Plot Summary
Jason Robards, Martin Balsam and E.G. Marshall star in this definitive, authentic reenactment of the “date which will live in infamy,” and the political intrigue that preceded it. The code words TORA! TORA! TORA! meant that the Japanese Imperial Navy’s attack on Pearl Harbor and other targets on December 7, 1941 had begun. With over 3,000 killed or wounded, America was abruptly drawn into WWII.

Top Critics' Reviews
Rotten: As history, it seems a fairly accurate account of what happened, although it never much bothers its head about why. As film art, it is nothing less than a $25-million irrelevancy.
Rotten: Both overall director Richard Fleischer and his Japanese counterparts do a dull job, and the monotonously low-key tone of scene after scene almost suggests that each was filmed without a sense of ultimate slotting in the finished form.
Fresh: It's rare for a feature film to attain the trifecta of entertaining, informing, and educating.
Fresh: This big-budget, noble-but-dull account of the run up to Pearl Harbour is high on historical veracity but low on drama.

The Best
This is a classic, casting, story, cinematography, drama, and historicity is right on. If you like WWII and the history of that time, this movie is for you. This is a movie everyone needs to see at least once in their life.
ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT HISTORICAL DRAMA
An exceptionally rare combination of historical accuracy, meticulous writing, spot-on casting, tight directing, surgical editing, stunning photography, beautifully composed score. and simply outstanding entertainment. Objective retelling of a major historical event does not get any better. A must viewing for all Americans … more than 50% of whom continue to forget the most painful lessons of history.
Tora Tora Tora
Personally I thought it was an excellent film. For the most part historically accurate. Admiral Kimmel’s son today is still trying to get his father exonerated. Washington and the Navy needed a scapegoat.
