Wow! So Powerful! Such a Wonderful Twist!
This film is very very well done. The camera work and overall feeling of the film is just magnificient. The characters are extremely believable and relatable, and there is a twist that will leave a smile on your face (and in the midst of Nazi Germany!).. This film was my favorite of the six live-action films that were picked as Oscar hopefuls this year. Watch it! Watch it! Watch it!
Possible Oscar winner
The most touching of the five nominated live-action shorts. Beautifully filmed tale of friendship and "Schindler's List" heroism. Not my personal favorite to win the 2009 Oscar, but it wouldn't surprise me if it won as a sentimental pick.
A gem
Not to be missed, this is a wonderful distillation of the angst, the terror, and the small heroics that one saw occasionally throughout the Holocaust. A wonderful film which deserved to win an Oscar.
