Plot Summary
It is said that Halloween is the night when the dead rise to walk among us and other unspeakable things roam free. The rituals of All Hallows Eve were devised to protect us from their evil mischief, and one small town is about to be taught a terrifying lesson that some traditions are best not forgotten. Nothing is what it seems when a suburban couple learns the dangers of blowing out a Jack-o-Lantern before midnight; four women cross paths with a costumed stalker at a local festival; a group of pranksters goes too far and discovers the horrifying truth buried in a local legend; and a cantankerous old hermit is visited by a strange trick-or-treater with a few bones to pick. Costumes and candy, ghouls and goblins, monsters and mayhem...the tricks and treats of Halloween turn deadly as strange creatures of every variety-human and otherwise-try to survive the scariest night of the year.

Top Critics' Reviews
Fresh: This slick and twisted effort should enjoy lengthy shelf life as a Halloween perennial.
Rotten: The only shock is how Brian Cox and Anna Paquin ended up in something so atrocious. In trying to span so many genres, the film fails to hit the mark with any of them.
Fresh: Dougherty interweaves the different strands of his narrative with a healthy disinterest in the norms of chronology, and so introduces just the right amount of jigsaw-like tricksiness to keep his penny-dreadful treat smelling fresh

Read THIS!
This movie has a four small stories that intersect through various means in the movie. The real point of the movie is just to creep you out a bit and hopefully make you laugh a little. The visuals were stunning and I can't really pick a favorite part of the movie. The creatures were just awesome! If you enjoyed the 80's style short story films like Creepshow and Tales From The Crypt then you with certainly love Trick R' Treat.
Loved it.
I've been dying to see this movie for a few years now and it's the first film I've rented through iTunes. I have to say it was great and it came out just in time for Halloween. A great way to kick off October! It you love Halloween movies, you don't want to miss this one.
great movie
It's funny to me that they put out so many crappy movies in the theater, and an awesome movie like this sits on a shelf for a few years. I am just glad they finally released it so I could see it, and like I said above it's reall good.
