Top Critics' Reviews

Rotten: It could have been something special, but two things drag it down to mediocrity -- director Clare Peploe's misunderstanding of Marivaux's rhythms, and Mira Sorvino's limitations as a classical actress. – Mick LaSalle, San Francisco Chronicle, Jun 24, 2002

Rotten: The characters in Triumph of Love are trifles, so that the farcical situation, which depends on the audience buying quick changes of heart -- like falling in love in an instant -- has no resonance. – Beth Pinsker, Boston Globe, Jun 24, 2010

Fresh: A classy, sprightly spin on film. – Stephen Hunter, Washington Post, Jun 24, 2010

Fresh: The entire cast is first-rate, especially Sorvino. – Jay Boyar, Orlando Sentinel, Jun 24, 2010

Customer Reviews

strange, but not too bad.

i decided to buy it on a whim- l get a kick out of most cheesy romances. but this was very strange. all three people standing behind her on the cover end up falling in love with her -she's orininally dressed as a boy, so she reveals her true sex to both of the men and acts like a boy otherwise. no one knows that everyone else is in love with the same person. hard to watch sometimes. the filming and costumes are beautiful though, and it's really funny.

Amazing

love this movie sooo much! if you hate it...then you are an oaf! you have no sense of anything artistic and should go back to basics! xoxox

THE WORST!

This movie was the strangest and worst I've ever seen! I would never suggest it to anyone. I also bought this on a whim thinking 'ok this will be interesting and different.' It was definetly different and not the least bit interesting.
