Top Critics' Reviews

Rotten: Troy isn't so much a simplified retelling of The Iliad as a re-imagined version of it, told wholly without imagination. – Stephanie Zacharek, Salon.com, Jul 7, 2010

Fresh: Harsh, serious, and both exhilarating and tragic, the right tonal combination for Homer. – David Denby, New Yorker, Jan 3, 2005

Fresh: It's massive, opulent, passionate and -- unlike most summer time-wasters -- surprisingly intelligent. – Rex Reed, New York Observer, Jun 24, 2010

Rotten: A numbingly reliable tick-tock of expository set pieces alternating with vast CGI-aided battle scenes. – Jessica Winter, Time Out, Apr 30, 2012

simply mindblowing

the action is gripping, the acting is fabulous, the men are hot, the women are beautiful, and the story is epic. There is no reason not to like this movie. this is the first review I have ever written on iTunes, because I felt compelled to express my deep love for this wonderful movie. It is a tragic story, yet it has a silver lining. Enjoy!!

great movie

this is a great movie, they did really good to get the story without losing the main parts. one of my favourite things about this movie is they include charectors like Ajax, alot of people dont even realize he was there at all but this film brings him out

Simply Amazing

This movie truly is well done for being based off one of the longest epic poems, the Iliad. I agree some parts could have been better, and they could have cut certain scenes out. Overall though the movie was not a disappointment music was fitting, action was constant, and keeping to what it was based off I'd say pretty close (for Hollywood standards).
