Top Critics' Reviews

Fresh: The mantle of social relevance can be a heavy one, but "Trust," a smooth drama about a girl's seduction and rape by a middle-aged Internet predator, is neither preachy nor hysterically overreaching. – Jeannette Catsoulis, New York Times, Mar 31, 2011

Fresh: Schwimmer directs this smarmy Hot Topic drama with empathy for the craft of acting but less interest in the craft of making a movie move. – Lisa Schwarzbaum, Entertainment Weekly, Apr 6, 2011

Fresh: There is no denying that Schwimmer knows something about getting a performance out of an actor. Liberato, who is 15 now, is flat-out terrific. – Mary F. Pols, TIME Magazine, Apr 1, 2011

Rotten: Unfortunately, this well-acted cautionary tale is hampered by a lack of visual finesse and a script (by Andy Bellin and Robert Festinger) in need of a narrative rethink and a dialogue polish. – Gary Goldstein, Los Angeles Times, Mar 31, 2011

Amazing movie…

This movie is amazing. And this is coming from a 15 year old straight male. I saw this movie was doing well on the charts so i decided to give it a chance. First off, this movie is VERY sad. There are parts that will make you want to cry…actually it's pretty much the whole movie after about five minutes :D Next, the acting was amazing. Especially by the main girl and her dad… holy crap. Lastly, this is a real issue in society. I think this movie expressed the danger of online stalking very well. The rumor that "this movie is only for teenage girls and their mothers" is definitely not true… I enjoyed it very much. PLEASE do yourself a favor and rent this… its a masterpiece :D

Some may think...

that this is some simple story telling of a story heard far too many times. The difference is this is a story told is in the state of bold truth. This film is uncomfortable at times because it does not use an odd edit to soften the blow. The ripple affect stated by the movie is honest and does not avoid what we try to when this certain situation is told. The acting is emotional and spot on. You are realed into the movie and feel all the emotions givien to us on the screen. It's been a long time since a film really got me so involved and thank goodness I don't just rely on trailers because there is so much more depth to be shown in the movie, that the trailer can barely begin to depict.

very sad

it`s a must see for each teenage girl and her parents. sad story but great acting and directing.
