Plot Summary

Get even more thrills and chills in this special unrated edition of Turistas! Rising star Josh Duhamel (TV's Las Vegas) leads a group of young backpackers who find themselves stranded on a remote Brazilian beach, an exotic paradise with warm sunshine, cool ocean breezes, and plenty of hot bodies. But, after a night of partying, the wayward turistas are drugged and robbed, and their dream vacation becomes a gruesome nightmare. Trapped and desperate, the vulnerable travelers are lured deep into the menacing jungle and beyond, where a dark and twisted fate too terrifying to imagine awaits.

Top Critics' Reviews

Rotten: It's fitting that, in a season in which Hollywood offers up its prestige pictures -- the ones it hopes will garner critics' prizes and Academy Awards -- Turistas should come along to offer a bit of contrast. – Mick LaSalle, San Francisco Chronicle, Dec 30, 2006

Rotten: Folks might find a bit of post-Iraq angst insinuated into the script, but any hint of social initiative in a movie this formulaic would be strictly coincidental. – Jack Mathews, New York Daily News, Jun 24, 2010

Rotten: Turistas has mastered the international language: stupidity. – Kyle Smith, New York Post, Jul 16, 2008

Rotten: [Director] Stockwell delivers too little of the dread and titillation this genre prescribes. – Bill Stamets, Chicago Sun-Times, Jun 24, 2010

Sexy and scary

This movie is filled with beautiful girls in the beginingg but it is terrifying later on. If you are the type who likes hot chicks and terror, this is the movie for you!

Turistas

On a random side-note, is Turistas what Ghouls say in warcraft 3? Just curious. This movie literally made me scared of foreign countries for a week, I mean it's scary because it actually happens. That's why I'm glad I don't drink alcohol so I can just bring my own stuff. Heh well the world isn't that scary, Turistas if not scary is definitely a good thriller. It's a bit gorey and definitely not for the kiddies or squeamish people. I like it though it's not like a "Here's some gore, now look at the bouncing boobies! Oh wait, more organs!" kinda crap, it's actually very well written and executed. I have to say it's one of my favorite movies that I didn't expect. It's a definite rent, I'm not sure if most people could watch it again but I will. Oh and a little spoiler alert, the part where the girl gets cut open then they remove like tons of muscle tissue, what's really creepy is the stuff they use only makes it so you can't scream or move much, you can still feel it. Ugh Well 5/5 or 10/10 for me.

Buy it!!!

At first, i just rented this movie because it looked good. But after I watched it, i immediately went back and purchased it! It's amazingly written to be suspenceful and terrifying, yet cold with just a hint of creepy, all at the same time. the writers do a great job of building the characters in the beginning, so that way you actually care if they live or die by the end. over all, i give it 5 stars. dont waste your money renting it, just buy it the first time!
