Plot Summary

Rising star Josh Duhamel (TV's Las Vegas) leads a group of young backpackers who find themselves stranded on a remote Brazilian beach, an exotic paradise with warm sunshine, cool ocean breezes, and plenty of hot bodies. But, after a night of partying, the wayward turistas are drugged and robbed, and their dream vacation becomes a gruesome nightmare. Trapped and desperate, the vulnerable travelers are lured deep into the menacing jungle and beyond, where a dark and twisted fate too terrifying to imagine awaits.

Top Critics' Reviews

Rotten: It's fitting that, in a season in which Hollywood offers up its prestige pictures -- the ones it hopes will garner critics' prizes and Academy Awards -- Turistas should come along to offer a bit of contrast. – Mick LaSalle, San Francisco Chronicle, Dec 30, 2006

Rotten: Folks might find a bit of post-Iraq angst insinuated into the script, but any hint of social initiative in a movie this formulaic would be strictly coincidental. – Jack Mathews, New York Daily News, Jun 24, 2010

Rotten: Turistas has mastered the international language: stupidity. – Kyle Smith, New York Post, Jul 16, 2008

Rotten: [Director] Stockwell delivers too little of the dread and titillation this genre prescribes. – Bill Stamets, Chicago Sun-Times, Jun 24, 2010

Welcome to Brazil... turistas... But be aware!

This is a great movie for fellow travellers who will reach Brazil for a wonderful journey!!! This movie definetely shows both sides of Brazil : The beauty and the corruption.

Nothing special.

You can rent it, but you wont like it much. Warning you in advance.

It is almost like I still know what you did last summer.

I have seen parts of it and it looks kinda dumb. And I have already seen I still Know What You did Last summer, and this looks exaclty like it. killing spree, drunk teens, killing on a vaction, a lot like other horror movies.
