Top Critics' Reviews

Fresh: Turn the River is a finely observed portrait of a desperate working-class woman who refuses to play by ordinary rules. – Stephen Holden, New York Times, Jul 16, 2008

Fresh: [This] atmospheric pic positively vibrates with authenticity. – Ronnie Scheib, Variety, Jul 7, 2010

Rotten: A well-acted, if not terribly well-crafted, character-driven drama without much in the way of a purpose. – Carina Chocano, Los Angeles Times, Oct 18, 2008

Rotten: It's not sharp or ironic, but drab and downbeat. Unfortunately, it's also going to feel utterly familiar to those who've seen their share of independent dramas in the last 15 years. – Elizabeth Weitzman, New York Daily News, Jun 24, 2010

Customer Reviews

It was actually really good!

First, I had intentions of only watching this movie because of Famke. Ha.. Isn't that why like.. basically everyone watched it, at first? Haha anyway, watching the movie it definitely became more then just wanted to see it because of her. Because the storyline is very gripping, and endearing! The acting is fantastic, and basically, you should see it. I gave it four stars though, because the ending kind of.. I don't know; Wasn't right for the film.
