Top Critics' Reviews
Fresh: There is many a witty remark in this harum-scarum adventure.
Fresh: The movie is a veritable concerto for their remarkable talents, put across by Hawks with maximal energy and voltage.
Fresh: Casually reverses and undermines its frumpy thesis by validating the effortlessly supple benefits of the seventh art.
Customer Reviews
Twentieth Century
John Barrymore at the top of his form. Carole Lombard is the perfect foil for Barrymore as insane director Oscar Jaffe. The supporting cast, including Roscoe Karns and Walter Conolly are perfect punching bags for Barrymore. This 79 year old comedy is as fresh as the day it was made.
Silly Story of Fame
Barrymore plays a over the top narcissistic playwright and Lombard is the unknown girl that he makes a star. Barrymore tries to manipulate her life so she can never leave him. Boy gets girl, boy losses girl, boy gets girl back story. Barrymore is the driving force, everyone else is trying to keep up with him.
