Plot Summary
Combining rare and often hilarious archival footage with interviews, Twist chronicles the evolution of rock and roll dance. From the time when moving hips marked you as a social degenerate, to a time when shaking your "thing" became the dance-form that rocked the world.

An Amazingly Energetic Documentary!
This amazing documentary chronicles a time in American pop culture from approximately the late 1950's through the early 1960's.
Musically speaking, this was between the time when Elvis was inducted into the Army through when The Beatles first invaded our shores.
Back in the late 50's and 1960's dancing held a very important role in teenage culture. Seems as though young people were more 'social' then, or at least it appears that teens back then weren't so obsessed with an I, ME, MINE mentality.
Watch this! Even though people moved away from holding each other when they danced, it was still a community of socially like-minded cooperation.
For over an hour, we witness young (and older) people having fun dancing. Huh…could the current state of childhood and adolescent obesity be remedied with
some physical activity like dancing ?
Very cool to see Hank Ballard get the attention and respect that he rightfully deserves too.
If you were there, it'll be a blast from the past to see all these great (and not so great) dance steps again. If you're not familiar with the Twist, The Mashed Potatoes, The Loco Motion, The Jerk, The Swim, The Monkey, then watch and learn. One last thing…although rhythm was the main component of 1960's dance music, the music was not harsh and the lyrics contained no obscenities. And the music was played by real musicians with real instruments.
Rent this film for 77 minutes of history and fun. Can you dig it?
