Plot Summary
Two women wait impatiently in front of a SoHo loft, each hoping to surprise her boyfriend upon his return from a trip to Los Angeles. Carla (Heather Graham) is beautiful, smart, sophisticated and reserved. Lou (Natasha Wagner) is vivacious, sexy, sassy and outspoken. Chatting, these two equally compelling women discover a surprise of their own - that the fantastic boyfriend they are each supposedly having a monogamous love affair with is the very same man: Blake Allen (Robert Downey, Jr.), a struggling actor with a talent for evading the truth. Carla and Lou could just walk away from a cruel, inexplicable betrayal and begin again, but that's not what they decide to do. Instead they sneak into Blake's apartment and, over the next few incredible hours, the two women attempt to uncover the truth about the enigmatic Blake Allen any which way they can - from dramatic confrontation to fevered seduction to shocking revelation.

Top Critics' Reviews
Fresh: Robert Downey Jr.'s Blake Allen is enough of a raging dynamo to find the dark humor and desperate romanticism at the heart of Mr. Toback's ego trip of a premise, and to make Blake sympathetic too.
Fresh: A lively, if slender, perpetuation of the battle between the sexes on a modern battleground.
Rotten: A small movie with some big moments and a lot of unfinished business.
Rotten: Writer-director James Toback must believe his audience is hopelessly prudish if he thinks this pedantic story, which takes place over several hours in a Manhattan loft, is provocative.
Customer Reviews
robert is amazing as always, but....
This movie really wasn't very good. The only part that i enjoyed was robert downey jr's performance, he was hilarious, as always. But other than that, the plot wasn't that great, and neither were the two female leads.
Loved RDJ as always but....
....the girls were not so good. heather graham was ok but the brunette was just....not good. i'm someone who generally has a hard time following plots and this one was simple and to the point so it was good for me in that regard, but the acting, and at times the script was just not quality. i always love robert downey jr so thats the only reason i watched this movie and he was the only reason i finished the movie. if u like rdj, you'll like this movie.
Great
The whole movie takes place in an apartment. Clever, witty, sharp dialogue. Robert Downey jr. is a riot! The film is sexy, funny & innovative in a subtle yet effective way. But the best scene is of Robert playing his own song on the piano. Love this movie
