Top Critics' Reviews

Rotten: This movie's trailers promise a slapstick comedy about an obese black woman who takes no guff and enjoys beating people up. It isn't exactly, and that's a disappointment. – Anita Gates, New York Times, Jul 16, 2008

Rotten: The heavily melodramatic tone that predominates throughout much of the pic could have used more leavening with comic relief. – Joe Leydon, Variety, Jul 7, 2010

Rotten: Tyler Perry's heart is in the right place, but he still has a tin ear. – Christy Lemire, Associated Press, Jun 24, 2010

Rotten: Family Reunion doesn't know if it wants to be a comedy or a drama and ends up as mostly a melodrama with scenes that would be embarrassing on a soap opera. – Ruthe Stein, San Francisco Chronicle, Jun 24, 2010

Why I love Tyler Perry

He is such a nice guy, in person, and on the big screen. His movies always put a smile on my face. I cant wait to see what else he has in store!

great film

Not only is this a great comedy but it also has some powerful acting. There is a great monologue "What We Paid For" by Cicely Tyson as well as some deep poetry by Maya Angelou. Truly one of my favorites.

Madea makes me crack up again!

I don't think I have seen one of Tyler Perry's movies/shows without loving it. Madea's Family Reunion is a great comedy. Tyler Perry combines comedy, drama, romance & more into one amazing movie.
