Plot Summary

UNCERTAINTY, from directors Scott McGehee and David Siegel (THE DEEP END), thrusts Bobby and Kate (Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Lynn Collins) into two alternate realities on the same steamy summer day in New York City. Bobby and Kate are drunk in love with each other but face the biggest decision of their lives. At the center of the Brooklyn Bridge, Bobby stops and takes out a coin. “We can’t do that,” Kate exclaims...but they do. Sent in opposite directions, one half of the couple experiences a delicate Brooklyn drama about familial love, self-discovery, loss and the ordinary choices we make every day; the a vastly different, dangerous tale of intrigue, suspense and murder on the streets of Chinatown. “Rain Li's crisp cinematography gives the entwined stories different but complementary visual styles. Paul Zucker's editing supports each genre then poses fresh questions by leaping from one to the other” –Kennedy, DENVER POST. From IFC Films.

Top Critics' Reviews

Fresh: A taut, skillful exercise in cinematic clockwork. – Stephen Holden, New York Times, Jun 24, 2010

Fresh: Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Lynn Collins are so interesting that it's easy to put up with the decision-making dithering that goes along with the title. – Lisa Schwarzbaum, Entertainment Weekly, Jun 24, 2010

Rotten: The result is some nice atmospherics tethered to a cripplingly half-baked existentialism. – Ella Taylor, Village Voice, Jun 24, 2010

Rotten: The film bets everything on an unconventional structure, but fails to do much with it. – Walter V. Addiego, San Francisco Chronicle, Jun 24, 2010

Could have been better...

I am a huge fan of Joseph Gordon-Levitt; however, I was disappointed in this film. The storyline was very interesting, but it failed to grasp my attention. The ending was horrible; the movie never concluded the story, leaving me questioning.

Terribly boring

Terribly boring. Plot full of holes. Watching this movie was like writing a term paper you just can't sit still to write. You procrastinate to even finish watching this movie.
