Customer Reviews

Wow, really?

As you can guess this is a political statement piece masquerading as a horror flick. The bad guys are white Americans and the victims are the poor illegal aliens of course. This film was not scary; way too predictable and sadly too far from the real world to be slightly plausible and thus removes any trace of terror. If you want scary go to the TV section and watch Border Wars and see how scary real life can be…

Propaganda

Once again, " Hollywood" attempts to blur the line between reality and their deceptive, twisted, extremist-liberal view of the world- all the time guised as entertainment. The real horror is that they are usually much more skilled at the craft. Seen "60 Minutes" lately?

Totally enjoyable shock/horror flick

Borrowing some ideas from the Found Footage genre and blending them with the ideas from the torture porn genre that spawned films like HOSTEL and SAW, Undocumented follows a group of college age film makers as they follow a group of illegal immigrants across the mexican/american border. Unfortunately they are capture by a group of militant radicals who kidnap undocumented workers and border crossers, torture them and keep them as a slave like work force in an abandoned meat processing/packing facility.

Undocumented does have a political message behind it, how can it not, but it's also a horror film and whatever message you get from it is clearly going to be blown out proportion. The same way some people thought Cloverfield was really about the 9/11 attacks, some people think this is a statement about the border wars. It's not. This is a film about an evil man doing an evil things and you shouldn't look too much into it.

Not for the squeamish or faint of heart, Undocumented can provide a really good time and has a really good cast. It's great to see Peter Stormare take up the role of the villain especially since he himself is not American and neither is his character. It's also great to see Scott Mechlowicz (Eurotrip) get a part in a film with some edge to it. He provides the every man look into the situation and is incredibly relatable.

I'm not saying this is a perfect film by any means. When I saw it a year ago at Fantastic Fest it was a little long in the 2nd/3rd act transition and it didn't quite know how it wanted to wrap up, but I enjoyed it none-the less.
