Top Critics' Reviews

Fresh: Adam Hootnick's Unsettled makes the political personal, drawing a scattershot yet intimate picture of a nation divided. – Jeannette Catsoulis, New York Times, Jun 24, 2010

Fresh: The reasoned arguments of these motivated, eloquent young people and the passionate but substantive confrontations in the streets are strangely heartwarming; it's a level of engagement that has proven sadly elusive for most conflicted countries. – Michelle Orange, Village Voice, Oct 18, 2008

Fresh: Adam Hootnick's Unsettled will not bring peace to the Middle East, but the documentary's goodwill is a corrective to Morgan Spurlock's repulsive Where in the World is Osama Bin Laden? – Ed Gonzalez, Slant Magazine, Jul 7, 2010

The side of the story you never see

Most documentaries about Israel are about politics and while this did touch on politics, it was really about humanity. This is what it was like for thousands of Israeli soldiers to evacuate thousands of Jewish settlers from their homes. Whatever your ideologies or politics are, just think about what it would be like for the army (an army in which you probably are a part of) to come and remove you from the home that you have lived in for over 20 years. Next time people say that Israeli's don't want peace, think about the soldiers who carried out this mission and the settlers who didn't violently resist. This is a great story of the sacrifice of a nation in the hope of peace.

You Ain't Seen Nothing.... At All

What a powerful movie. A side of Israel that most Jews/Israelis know but not many outside know. A must see for anyone interested in Middle East Politics, Israel, and peacemaking.
