Plot Summary
When baseball's most controversial star sent #73 screaming into the right field bleachers at Pac Bell Park, it set off a wild scramble for the coveted million-dollar souvenir. Patrick Hayashi emerged from the pile of fans, held up the ball, and was whisked away by ballpark security to a secure room where the ball was authenticated. Moments later, Alex Popov declared that HE had caught the ball on the fly and that it had been stolen from him in the pile. Bring on the lawyers, the media circus, and the tension-filled auction that would change their lives forever - and leave us laughing in the aisles.
PLEASE NOTE: This award-winning documentary was created using a wide variety of media to capture the story as it happened, including off-air and amateur recordings. We feel that capturing the immediate experience of the story more than makes up for the occasional lapse of image quality.

Top Critics' Reviews
Fresh: A twisty little documentary about the aftermath of Bonds' fat swing.
Fresh: A winning combination of humor and crafty filmmaking that cleverly masks the social commentary going on beneath.
Fresh: Captures the excitement of the game as well as the intimate drama -- and comedy -- of the human conflict.
Fresh: The tone is best captured by one Bay Area sportswriter's wry comment that catching a valuable home run ball is 'sort of like winning the lottery except you feel like you earned it.'

Great entertainment
Although I'd heard that Up for Grabs told a great story, I had no idea that it would be so funny. Definitely a very interesting tale of greed but it was the dry humor which really made the film a lot of fun. My girlfriend, who watched it with me, doesn't like baseball at all but loved the movie. Would highly recommend it to anyone.
A hilarious film
This is one of the best documentaries that i have seen in a long while and its implications go far beyond baseball. It centers around the egomaniacal Mr. Popov, who embarks on a quixotic crusade to get Barry Bonds' 73rd home run ball as well as his fifteen minutes of fame. The ending of the film was absolutely hilarious. Also, the filmmakers should be credited for their ability to deliver a clear moral message without the use of pompous narraration.
Loved it!
Not what I expected. Hilariously shines light what people would do for money. I had a change of heart towards the end. Even if you aren't a huge baseball fan, it's a MUST SEE!
