Plot Summary

From the revolutionary minds of Pixar Animation Studios and the acclaimed director of Monsters, Inc. comes a hilariously uplifting adventure where the sky is no longer the limit. Carl Fredricksen, a retired balloon salesman is part rascal, part dreamer who is ready for his last chance at high-flying excitement. Tying thousands of balloons to his house, Carl sets off to the lost world of his childhood dreams. Unbeknownst to Carl, Russell, an overeager 8-year old Wilderness Explorer who has never ventured beyond his backyard, is in the wrong place at the wrong time – Carl's front porch! The world's most unlikely duo reaches new heights and meets fantastic friends like Dug, a dog with a special collar that allows him to speak, and Kevin, the rare 13-foot tall flightless bird. Stuck together in the wilds of the jungle, Carl realizes that sometimes life's biggest adventures aren't the ones you set out looking for. UP reaches new heights and it's an adventure that will send your spirits soaring!

Best Movie of All Time(!)

I went to see this movie expecting a traditional children's movie following the line of Finding Nemo and Wall-E. But what i found was nothing short of a phenomenon in itself! Up is by far the most beautiful and touching film I have ever experienced! THrough alternating tears and laughs, this is really a movie that calls for deep introspection, and is at it's deepest core a celebration of life and all it has to offer. For children, it's about learning, facing the unknown, and growing in a world dominated by technology. For young twenty-somethings like me, it's about keeping the right priorities in your life, and never taking the time you have for granted. For adults, this is about making the most of the time you have, dealing with regret and guilt, and following lifelong dreams. I'd recommend this movie for children (provided their parents are responsible enough to explain some of the harder issues discussed), and anyone with a family or aspirations for one; this movie should really be required for marriage counseling as well! in short: watch it. you will cry, you will laugh, and you will love it.

How Dare You, Disney/Pixar!

One of the most touching moments in cinema of 2009, and it was accomplished by an animated feature. How dare you make me cry like a little baby, Docter! The film's preface made me weep, to the point that I forgot I was watching a cartoon. Classic pixar heart string fiddling and all around fun, UP is a masterpiece in its own right. The beautiful storytelling of Pete Docter (Monsters Inc.) accompanied by the comforting tones of Ed Asner and Christohpher Plummer is only overshadowed by the most gorgeous Pixar film to date. In my opinion, the only film I've reviewed in 2009 that deserves a perfect score of five stars. For that matter; the first Pixar film to receive that. UP will take you on a journey of epic porpotions and heartwarming fantasy. As you follow Carl (Asner) on an adventure of a lifetime, you will fall in love the landscapes and his stowaway, Russell (Jordan Nagai). These two mismatched travellers find themselves in peril as they try to fulfill a promise to Ellie, Carl's wife. All the while, each fulfilling what's missing from one another's life. Reccomended buy on both Blu-Ray and Digital copy. For the HD experience and to watch over and over again on your Apple TV. If you're only picking up the Digital copy, it's reccomended that you pick up the short film, Partly Cloudy directed by Peter Sohn. Both together illustrates why Pixar are the new masters of emotionally driven story telling and why Disney has such a beautiful lineage in family entertainment. As the iTunes star rating system suggests, "it's great!"

Beautiful!

This movie moved me so much! It shows what are the most importing things in life and how to chase our dreams. The music in this movie is amazing... Anyway it's hard to describe what do you feel when you watched this movie cuz I think that everybody are feel that in their own personal way... Well done Walt Disney and Pixar - the best movies producers!
