Plot Summary
Based upon the true story of the "Warsaw Ghetto Uprising" in 1943, this heart wrenching docudrama was nominated for 4 Emmy awards and 1 Golden Globe award. Following their invasion of Poland in September 1939, the Nazis force the Jewish population in Warsaw to relocate to an enclosed area that became known as the "Warsaw Ghetto." After years of Nazi oppression, a small resistance movement rises up and strikes back, eventually holding at bay thousands of German troops for seven months with homemade weapons and their bare hands. Starring Emmy and Golden Globe-winner Donald Sutherland ("Space Cowboys," "Art of War"), Academy Award-winner Jon Voight ("Ali," "Pearl Harbor"), Emmy-nominee David Schwimmer (TV's "Friends," "Band of Brothers"), Emmy-winner Hank Azaria ("America's Sweethearts," TV's "Fail Safe"), Leelee Sobieski ("Joyride," "Eyes Wide Shut") and Cary Elwes ("Kiss the Girls," "Twister"). Directed by Jon Avnet ("Up Close & Personal," "Fried Green Tomatoes").
