Top Critics' Reviews

Rotten: The photo-realistic look is striking, but the dialogue is occasionally wince-inducing. Think a sub-par Flintstones episode. – Claudia Puig, USA Today, Dec 19, 2013

Rotten: Collee piles on references to such distinctly human concepts as ninjas and ballet, while 21st-century expressions ("Worst migration ever!") and a forgettable selection of pop tunes feel instantly biodegradable. – Peter Debruge, Variety, Dec 19, 2013

Rotten: The only solace from the uninspired characters and crammed-in factoids are the gags about poop and puke - juvenile, yes, but also appropriate for the film's "back to nature" ethos. – Inkoo Kang, Village Voice, Dec 20, 2013

Rotten: However well-intentioned the movie may be, it spills over with flat cutesy humor, making a slog out of an experience that should be filled with wonder. – Tom Russo, Boston Globe, Dec 19, 2013

A Gorgeous Failure

This movie could've been good, it could've been something different. The visuals are incredible, with Animal Logic (the company behind 'Happy Feet' and 'Legend of the Guardians') doing the effects. And if it was just a silent film with music and dinosaurs, much like the original series.

Instead, what we get is a film full of poop jokes, annoying voice acting, and a script that is a rehash of cliches. If they release a silent version of this film, I'll like it, but as is, just don't even bother.

Waste of Both Time and Money

Absolutely terrible. Went to see it in the theaters because I liked the original Walking With Dinosaurs documentaries so much. The visuals were good but not great - surprisingly somehow less vibrant and real seeming than the originals, even though technology has advanced since then. But what absolutely killed it was the endless narration. The dialogue would not stop and it was incredibly poorly written. I'm really astounded that someone could write such trite, crass, boring, and stupid dialogue. I walked out of the theater because I was bored to tears watching this. Not educational, not fun, not entertaining!

iTunes, release the non-voice over cut!

The Blue-Ray version of this movie will have a cut of the film called The Cretaceous Cut with NO VOICE OVERS. iTunes, please release this version or at least include it on the extras!
