Plot Summary
It was 1941, a critical time for the world and for the Walt Disney Studio. When the U.S. Government asked Disney to be a cultural ambassador to South America, the stage was set for Walt's very own real-life adventure. With a group of handpicked artists, later called "El Grupo," Disney's WWII road trip achieved the impossible: goodwill. And in the process paved the way for two classic Disney films, Saludos Amigos and The Three Caballeros. Brought to life through rare footage, Walt & El Grupo is a story of inspiration, joy and hope you won't soon forget.

Top Critics' Reviews
Rotten: A relentlessly upbeat vanity project destined for the Disney family archive.
Fresh: While Walt & El Grupo could use trimming, it also is visually stunning.
Fresh: Walt & El Grupo is the best kind of labor of love. A documentary made with affection and intelligence...
Rotten: The production values are first rate. But you will wait in vain to hear a good reason for this movie's existence.

Very Good but lacked the detail I was expecting
I was very excited to see this documentary and honestly I wasn't let down. I enjoyed learning new information about their trip and personal accounts from back home. The one thing I was disappointed about was that there wasn't more nitty-gritty detail about the adverse response to the films. They discuss the trip in much detail but they have 30 seconds about the fact that Chileans weren't pleased with their depiction in the film. Maybe I'm stretching for more than what the film was offering. Nonetheless, this is a very good film and highly recommended for all those Disney history buffs out there.
