Plot Summary
In this celebrated adaptation of Richard Adams’s classic novel, an offshoot group of rabbits struggle to break from their failing, violent community to form a utopian society. With Watership Down, first-time director Martin Rosen and his team of animators created a dark, beautiful work that blends poetic mysticism and austere realism.

Top Critics' Reviews
Fresh: A rare movie that keeps kids on the edge of their chairs without inducing in their parents an overwhelming desire to escape theirs for a smoke in the lobby.
Rotten: A brief spark of imagination survives in a prologue sequence, designed by the great John Hubley before he was fired from the film. The rest is blandness.
Fresh: A beautifully realised animation, Watership Down ultimately works because it doesn't dilute the violence and drama of Adams' book with a rose-tinted lens.
Customer Reviews
Beautiful novel; beautiful film
Once I get the money, I'm purchasing this. Both the novel and film are underrated. This shouldn't be under Kids' Movies....
Animated Action Film
Good animated film adaptation of a great novel of the same name. Animation is done very well as is the voice over. It is more of a action adventure film than a children’s film. All in all, a refreshing film to see; one that would never be made today, without a lot of watering down. It should be noted that there is some graphic violence and death is a major theme.
Watership Down
About time, iTunes!
This is THE best, THE goriest, THE hands-down greatest animated film of all time! I've been waiting forever for this to show up on iTunes! Now we just need Plague Dogs…
And by gory, I mean the climax of the movie (no spoilers, just sayin it's gory).
