Plot Summary
Football is a game that knocks you down, then expects you to get back up. Life hit the West Virginia town of Huntington and its Marshall University even harder. When it did, Jack Lengyel came by to help pull them onto their feet by taking the job no one wanted: rebuilding the Marshall football program only months after a plane crash wiped out Marshall's beloved Thundering Herd. Matthew McConaughey portrays Lengyel, the energetic, compassionate coach of inexperienced players whose chances of victory are slim and none. They'll go with the slim. And as they do, their true-life story of heart, healing, and football will thrill and inspire you. It's game day. Time to play till the whistle blows!

Top Critics' Reviews
Rotten: We Are Marshall is the kind of crassly formulaic movie in which everything hinges on a single play in the final seconds of a big football game.
Rotten: This was undeniably a horrific event for the victims' families friends, colleagues as well as for the entire community. But the movie seems to almost exploit this tragedy so it can make audiences weep, and ultimately, cheer.
Fresh: We Are Marshall is a bit of a shame, because the subject matter could have been something special in the hands of stronger filmmakers.
Fresh: We Are Marshall (it's the rally cry of the team) doesn't always have a handle on the grief, but it does keep emotions close to the surface. That allows McConaughey to be the most refreshing, funny and believable he ever has been.

Today November 14th...
If you've ever thought of getting this, today is the best day. Today is the day that we remember those sons and daughters of Marshall that we lost so long ago. This movie always make me cry. Forget what the others are saying bout this film. It was filmed on campus of Marshall University and even in Huntington some as well. It a is 100% perfect reflection of what happened way back when.
The best movie.
This is one of the best football movies ever, and one of the saddest. It's a very good movie altogether. There were many scenes that made me cry. I was do happy when I got it, it was a great spend.
We Are Marshall
This was one of the best movies I have ever seen. There are moments of stress, disparity, and confidence. This movie was very inspirational and moving. I loved it. We Are MARSHALL!
