Plot Summary

Los Angeles advertising executive Jason (Brian Tee) discovers true love online. The only problem is the girl of his dreams, Na Young (Kang Hye-jung), lives 9000 miles away in Seoul, Korea. After weeks of romantic video chats and dinner dates, Jason proposes to Na Young and the stage is set for the perfect wedding in LA. All goes as planned, that is, until Na Young shows up and Jason is alarmed to discover she is not quite the person she seemed to be online. His family is thrown into panic mode to find him a new bride-- and for good reason. They believe Na Young is further proof that Jason inherited the ancient family curse: if he isn't married by 30, which is just weeks away, he'll die. Will Jason overcome his family's fears and marry the girl of his dreams even if it means risking his own life?

Top Critics' Reviews

Rotten: Loud, frenetic action drowns out the charms of Christine Yoo's debut film. – Joe Leydon, Variety, Sep 29, 2013

Rotten: The genre elements of the romantic comedy "Wedding Palace" attempt a transpacific transit, but get lost in translation. – Inkoo Kang, Los Angeles Times, Sep 26, 2013

Rotten: Kang's Na Young and Tee's Jason have a winning rapport when the script isn't pushing them into contrived shtick. – Mark Jenkins, Washington Post, Oct 24, 2013

Rotten: The cross-cultural rom com about a Korean American's search for true love is marred by serious overacting, broad characterization, flat comedic skits. It tries too hard, like a comic who's the one laughing hardest at his jokes. – Tirdad Derakhshani, Philadelphia Inquirer, Oct 3, 2013
