Plot Summary

Woody Harrelson, Academy Award winner Marisa Tomei (Best supporting Actress, My Cousin Vinny, 1993) and Stephen Dillane (The Hours) team up and deliver powerhouse performances in this courageous true story. Living on the edge amid the constant threat of attack, an offbeat band of TV journalists, led by hotshot Jimmy Flynn (Harrelson), report from a devastated war-torn country. The action intensifies when one of the journalists crosses the line and risks his life in a bold attempt to smuggle an orphaned girl to safety. Filling the screen with a jarring mix of passion and danger, Welcome to Sarajevo is a gritty, behind-the-scenes look at covering a war... head-on and on the run.

Top Critics' Reviews

Rotten: However closely they mirror the real experience of Mr. Nicholson and others, some of the shocks here are too sadly predictable. – Janet Maslin, New York Times, Jul 13, 2011

Fresh: Loosely structured, it keeps its focus despite lots of dramatic wiggle room. – Mike Clark, USA Today, Jun 24, 2010

Fresh: Messy and visceral, with an articulate, pointed anger that's recognizably British, "Welcome to Sarajevo" hits with an impact that's not diminished by the fact that Sarajevo's uneasy peace has held. – Charles Taylor, Salon.com, Jul 13, 2011

Fresh: A compelling but jumbled film that examines the line between journalistic detachment and passion. – Edward Guthmann, San Francisco Chronicle, Jul 13, 2011
