Plot Summary
An impending collision with a runaway star signals the destruction of Earth. The government refuses to listen to scientists, but private industrialists finance the building of a spaceship, which will carry a limited number of people to another planet to begin a new civilization. As doomsday approaches, they race against time and the panic of those who will be left behind. The potential pulverizing impact of the collision, the massive tidal waves and devastating earthquakes, and the final cosmic smashup make a chilling panorama of disaster. The balance between human and planetary drama is excellently maintained as the movie builds to its fascinating, unforgettable climax.

Top Critics' Reviews
Fresh: Mr. Pal barely gets us out there, but this time he doesn't bring us back.
Fresh: Top honors for this inter-planetary fantasy rest with the cameramen and special effects technicians rather than with performances of the non-name cast.
Rotten: This probably looks about as stodgy now as it did back then.
Fresh: George Pal's production is better remembered for its apocalyptic special effects than for the perfunctory dialogue, but the gripping story keeps you watching.

Classic George Pal
This was written well before Sputnik . Excellent Story dealing with the end of the world and the social reactions for a problem of this kind. This is a real classic of Science Fiction that can't be missed by any person that loves the genre.
Classic!
An amazing piece of staggering genius.
I hate to write a review for this…
But it seems to be the only way to bring this to your attention (other than calling Apple Support), but you have the title of this movie wrong. It should be "When Worlds Collide" - notice the absence of the apostrophe you have (incorrectly) put into the word 'Worlds". Not only does the front cover clearly NOT have an apostrophe, but the trailer also clearly doesn't have it at the several points they show the title. It also happens to be poor grammar, as the word "Worlds" is not possesive of the word "Collide". Please fix this unfortunate mistake that is all-too-common in today's usage.
