Plot Summary
"When You're Strange" uncovers historic and previously unseen footage of the illustrious rock quartet and provides new insight into the revolutionary impact of its music and legacy. Directed by award-winning writer/director Tom DiCillo and narrated by Johnny Depp, the film is a riveting account of the band's history. The film reveals an intimate perspective on the creative chemistry between drummer John Densmore, guitarist Robby Krieger, keyboardist Ray Manzarek and singer Jim Morrison — four brilliant artists who made The Doors one of America's most iconic and influential rock bands. Using footage shot between the band's 1965 formation and Morrison's 1971 death, "When You're Strange" follows the band from the corridors of UCLA's film school, where Manzarek and Morrison met, to the stages of sold-out arenas.

Top Critics' Reviews
Rotten: [A] muddled, pretentious assemblage of film clips of the band shot between 1966 and 1971, with solemn narration by Johnny Depp.
Fresh: Unhappy with what Oliver Stone did to Jim Morrison and the Doors in his 1991 biopic? Here's the doc for you.
Fresh: Writer/director Tom DiCillo goes a bit overboard with his rhetoric, describing Morrison as "like an ancient shaman." Johnny Depp's measured narration brings DiCillo's often worshipful words back to earth.
Fresh: When You're Strange offers a mesmerizing, behind-the-music glimpse at a crucial and bizarre moment in rock history, and maybe in American cultural history, period.

um......
This film is what i have been waiting for. I like oliver stones film, but this actually has what you need... THE DOORS. Also on a side note kid that has never heard of the doors have you been living under a rock? The Doors have what could be, and is usually regarded as, the best debut album of all time. When this film opened at Sundance Tom Dicillo was the original narrator, and when Johnny Depp saw this film he wanted to narrate it. Johnny Depp is first and foremost a musician, and a good one at that.
Wow...to the genius
