Plot Summary
Academy Award-nominees Willem Dafoe ("Platoon," "Born on the Fourth of July") and Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio ("Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves," "The Color of Money") star in this erotic and suspenseful tale about a small-town sheriff who assumes the identity of a dead man in order to solve a murder, and becomes caught in a web of international intrigue. Time Magazine says this movie "bedazzles." Also starring Academy Award-nominee Samuel L. Jackson ("Pulp Fiction"), Mickey Rourke ("9-1/2 Weeks"), Mimi Rogers ("Someone to Watch Over Me"), and M. Great Actors, Good Story, Well Done
I really don't know exactly why this film was not a bigger hit back in the day. Definitely worth renting and for many worth buying.
White Sands is Awesome!
This movie is a classic. It fools you all the way till the end. The type of movie where nothing is what it seems. Full of twists and mystery. Mickey Rourke did an awesome job and Samuel L. Jackson was great. I highly recommend it.
Liked this movie when I first saw it. Like it now
I saw this movie when it first came out on the big-screen. Wasn't expecting much at the time, just a movie to occupy a Saturday afternoon. But I remember being totally engrossed in the story, no doubt because of the performances of Dafoe, Rourke and Mastrantonio, not to mention Jackson's also. It's a classic murder mystery set in New Mexico, with ambivalent characters, twisted motivations, a reluctant hero, a vulnerable girl, and some evil dudes. I've only seen it once or twice since that first time, but still love it and I'm glad I found it on iTunes to watch. I'll be purchasing this one for sure. Enjoy!
