Plot Summary
Ashes of American Flags is a new film presenting the Chicago band Wilco live in concert during their 2008 tour. Culled from concerts in five quintessentially American venues - Cain's Ballroom n Tulsa, Tipitina's in New Orleans, The Mobile Center in Mobile, The Ryman Auditorium in Nashville and the 9:30 Club in Washington D.C. - the film captures the energy, poignancy and musicality of a Wilco concert and tour. Ashes of American Flags is a Trixie production in association with Nonesuch Records and dBpm, Inc. Shot in HD and directed and produced by Brendan Canty (Fugazi) and Christoph Green, the film also includes interviews and day-in-the-life footage as the band travels across the U.S. For more information please visit http://ashesofamericanmovie.com.

Last Great American Rock Band
I saw them twice on this tour, Shelburne, Vermont and Charlottesville, Virginia. Both shows were great. If you haven't seen them live do so immediately, for the children.
Didn't let me down
And they never do! If you are a Wilco fan you will love this movie. Jeff does his thing as always and it's great but you also get to see more, learn more, and hear more from the other members of the band. Nels Cline balls out on that axe and provides a sufficient amount of face-melters. Also, the music is fantastic but the visuals in the movie are amazing and very soothing. They did a great job of capturing small towns. Oh, and the part when Tweedy says he's on steroids is great and followed by a great performance of Shot in the Arm. GET THIS.
Best Band in America
After watching the trailer for this, I thought there would be more of a narrative about life on the road and the changing face of small American downtows...it's much more of a live concert film than a documentary, but after seeing them play live on this, I would have been more upset if they took away from the performances for more back story. Nels Kline is a must-see.
