Top Critics' Reviews

Fresh: An unusually crisp and boldly shot Texas Chainsaw Massacre knockoff. – Owen Gleiberman, Entertainment Weekly, Jul 7, 2010

Rotten: There's no substitute for bad taste. And this one has it double-barreled, both in the timing of its release and as a movie, one said to be loosely based on fact. – Mike Clark, USA Today, Jun 24, 2010

Rotten: An initially promising horror film that turns exploitive, Wolf Creek fails to deliver the requisite payoff considering its leisurely pace. – Kevin Crust, Los Angeles Times, Jun 24, 2010

Fresh: This is some horror flick. – G. Allen Johnson, San Francisco Chronicle, Jun 24, 2010

Head on a Stick

One of the best horror movies of the 2000 era.

SICKEST HORROR MOVIE EVA!!!! BUT AWESOME

This movie goes from 0 to 100 soo quickly. Watched this at the cinemas in Australia and its the first horror movie that made me throw up in the cinema - so embarrassing. Watch it with caution, particularly the bit where he stabs the chick in the spine with a knife and you hear it crack and break - grouse stuff!!!

Pretty bad!

My main issue with "Wolf Creek" is how slowly the characters thought. They would always do the smart thing eventually, but it took them WAY too long to figure out what the smart thing was! One especially infuriating scene was where a woman watches her friend being tortured for at least five minutes before finally deciding to attack the killer.

Another scene that was mind-blowingly dumb was when the killer offers to fix the main characters' car. When he does this, it's the middle of the night and our hero and heroines are at the end of a dead-end road in the middle of a state park. There's no bathroom nearby or any other reason someone would drive down it except for visiting the park. Do they ever question why this man came to this state park IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT, for literally NO REASON???? Oh well...

Another of my complaints is the storyline- there wasn't one. It felt like a bunch of scenes had been filmed and then spliced together in random order. It gave the entire movie a disjointed feel to it.

Finally, I have to say how strange the pacing was. It's hard to explain what exactly was wrong there, but for some reason the pacing of the film felt very, very strange.

Bottom line: Don't waste your $3 on a rental. There are plenty of good horror flicks out there, but this one's too dumb to be taken seriously.
