Plot Summary

The short film is a poetic interpretation of the writer's mental journey during the writing process. The writer, played by Bryan Cranston (AMC’s Breaking Bad), creates a woman in his mind, played by Lela Edgar, while working on his next script. Under the frustrating effects of his Writer's Block, he decides to leave his room and go smoke a joint for inspiration. He notices a woman, the one he created in his mind, in real life and begins pursuing her down the rabbit hole of his mind. He follows her through his next script; through an eerie mountain town; and ultimately finds himself in an unlikely arena, where he must confront not only his Writer's Block but also himself. Written and directed by Brandon Polanco, the short film was created during the production of Cold Comes The Night. The short came into development through a contest presented by Mr. Cranston, for PA’s to write a script and he would select one to be produced on their days off. Mr. Polanco’s script was conceived during the Hurricane Sandy storm and presented the next morning to Mr. Cranston. An hour later his script was chosen, his team would immediately manifest, and they would only have three hours of preparation before principal photography.

Customer Reviews

Simply Great

This was such a great, simple film. Haunting and dreamy, all with a twist ending that is totally satisfying. Bryan Cranston is a fabulous actor and he really hits a home run with this one.

Artistic adventure

Brandon and Bryan did an amazing job capturing the essence of a true "writer's block." The effect of Writer's Block leads you to appreciate that by the end of the short film you wonder if either one really even had a writer's block when they conceived this imaginative piece.

The block rocks!

Brilliantly Realized. It captures a hazy truth that anyone who has ever written anything at all would find a cold and at the same time, oddly comforting symmetry with. Bravo to the team!
