Plot Summary
Yoga was brought to the west from India by a lineage of male teachers. Now there’s a generation of women who are leading the way. They’re strong, they’re inspiring, and they’re radically changing people’s lives. From the busy streets of Manhattan to the dusty slums of Kenya, from the golden beaches of Australia to the serene piazzas of Italy, Yogawoman (narrated by Annette Bening) uncovers a global phenomenon that has changed the face of yoga forever.

Rotten: Doing yoga proves more appealing than watching a film promote it.
Rotten: One could, however, wish that this endless encomium played less like a PowerPoint sales pitch, illustrated with clip-art imagery, scored with generic music and narrated in mellifluous tones by Annette Bening.
Rotten: Kate Clere McIntyre and Saraswati Clere's less than revelatory documentary that incessantly makes the point that yoga is really, really good for you.
Fresh: Yogawoman clearly is a fan of yoga and of women. And as it gently reminds us, these two special interests have not always been compatible.

Women’s journey back to peace worldwide
This movie moved and inspired me. Women are sharing yoga and healing in many profound ways. As a yogini myself I was humbled to see the powerful impact this practice is having worldwide. Watch and share with other women too.
A remarkable film about worldwide yoga and the women behind the movement
I didn't know what to expect from this film but I was pleasantly surprised by its original content and unique insights. The film follows the growth of yoga worldwide; specifically through the stories of some its most remarkable, female practitioners. This is not a glitzy, supermodel look at the cliché of "beautiful yoga." Moreover it focuses on real stories the explain why yoga is relevant no matter what age, background or level of fitness. I was really moved by some of the stories and have decided to take classes as a result. I strongly recommend this film for yoga pro and newbies alike.
