Plot Summary
Set in the heart of Cajun Louisiana, YOU’RE IN CHARGE begins on the day Eddie Guidry gets out of prison. Brimming with New Age optimism, he reinvents himself as a “doctor” of alternative medicine, and sets out to redeem himself in the eyes of his family. With the help of the latest technology in urinalysis and a positive attitude, he convinces Dicky, his recently unemployed brother-in-law, to come on board. Eager to turn his own fortunes around before his wife gives birth to their first child, Dicky secretly uses their precious nest egg to fund this questionable business venture, and it’s not long before the whole family is embroiled. Desperate times call for drastic measures in this comedy about mistakes, high stakes, and never giving up – even when maybe you should.

Outstanding!
Finally, a movie about Cajun Culture that gets it right.
Crowd-pleaser for a movie night - hilarious & full of heart
This family comedy has it all - Truly moving performances from an ensemble cast of just-discovered Cajun actors plus Mary Kay Place. The writing is snappy and clever, and the story is at once classically American, and totally unique to where it was filmed in Lafayette, Louisiana.
A lovable screw-up named Eddie is trying to redeem himself in the eyes of his family, but always seems to be in the wrong place at the wrong time (at one point, that includes in the middle of a scandal in the Cajuns national football championship game) … And he's often accidentally dragging people into the mess with him… but he has so much heart, you're rooting for him through all the absurd things that happen. At the same time, the matriarch Mary Kay Place is trying to keep the family together, and Eddie's sister and brother-in-law are getting ready for a home birth of their baby which is a wild adventure in and of itself. We laughed and cried, and a lot of both at the same time. Highly recommended.
Bonus, awesome soundtrack of Cajun music i.e. the Red Stick Ramblers and Dirk Powell.
