Clay Porter in Experimental phase
I don't like to criticize, but this movie could use tighter editing. Porter shows great promise in technical filmmaking, and his access to the personalities of the sport is unmatched. You grow close to the main players (characters) of this growing sport, but most of the film seems aimless till finally finding its stride near the end with the Minaar/Atherton rivalry. Porter will go on to truly find his place with The Steve Peat Story, a properly great film where Porter delivers in considerable restraint that lacks here. But, of course, who am I to criticise? Nobody. It seems everyone had fun in the shooting. THat's enough. Enjoyable.
