72 Miles Ek Pravas

Plot Summary

13-year-old boy (Ashok) is enrolled in a boarding school as his parents want him to be more disciplined. As the boarding school is very strict, he doesn’t like it at all. He decides to run away and wants to go back to Kolhapur. He travels 72 miles on foot and is beaten up along way. He is looted and is forced to beg, witnesses death, and goes through very painful situations. Yet along the way something changes. He meets Radhakka and her four children, who are heading towards Shegaon. They introduce Ashok to a totally different world which is far from struggle and despair. On her journey she witnesses the death of her infant, heartlessly buries him and then her elder son is bitten by a snake and dies. Each time Radhakka falls, it is only to stand up once again with courage. This journey teaches Ashok the true meaning of life which encourages him to grow up.
