...[The] wire-bridge scene alone justifies the movie's existence.
The story...wanders into routine horror territory when the monster, named Anton, begins his reign of terror using bear trap and cross bow to capture and kill his victims.
...completely falls apart, even in its end credits which state over 3,200 people have gone missing in this area, presumably all tracked down by cannibals or checked into the wrong hostel.
As unexpectedly entertaining as it is plainly beholden to several other suspense thrillers and horror flicks.
An exercise in screw tightening, with the viewer (like the characters themselves) being bombarded with one gasp-inducing thing after another.

What could have been the French answer to the Brit's excellent The Descent is a classic case of the second half of a film ruining the first. The first 20 minutes are actually really great and deserve the title "Vertige", because you didn't get such dizzying and exciting climbing scenes since Stallone was up in the mountains. The film also does a decent job introducing its characters and making them seem genuine. Sadly, once there is no way back from the mountain, the script felt the need to add Hostel-like torture and a hillbilly mutant villain, who just doesn't work. The first two deaths are so random you have to call them anti-climatic. The rest isn't very exciting and does not make use of the excellent setting of the mountains anymore. The ending itself is just stupid and ruins the whole film after all. What a waste.

A descnt slasher/survival horror movie coming from france.Pretty standed stuff but keeps you glued through out the short running time.Acting to above par and the movie does';nt relaie on blood or guts to keep you watch.Its a cross over of a few movies most notice are cliffhanger with the horror elements of wrong turn and hills have eyes.The end climax is great and very violent but the movie could of done with maybe a extra 10 -15 mins just to flesh out the actors a little.On a whole a worth a look and a another good horror from france.
