She's also especially partial to small towns wherever they may be. In Amazing Gracie, as in her later Trinity Harbor series, Woods creates a fictional version of the town where she spends summers on the shores of the Potomac River. A member of Novelists Inc., Sisters in Crime and Romance Writers of America, Sherryl divides her time between her childhood summer home overlooking the Potomac River in Colonial Beach, Virginia, and her oceanfront home with its lighthouse view, in Key Biscayne, Florida. "Wherever I am, if there's no water in sight, I get a little antsy," she says.

I didn't feel as there were any romance development at all.

There were times though when I would get really frustrated with Caitlyn and want to yell at her and say, "Can't you see what is right in front of you?

I've not read all the Chesapeake Shores series but I have read and do recommend the jolly holiday volumes of the O'Brien Christmas affairs.

A special thank you to Harlequin MIRA and NetGalley for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Yes, it is that time of the year, as we are into ARCs for the holiday season! Sherryl Woods returns to Chesapeake Shores with #11, The Christmas Bouquet, a love saga of Caitlyn and Noah for a mix of a contemporary romance, and a winter wonderland Christmas wedding. However, it is not smooth sailing on this shore.

From the moment Caitlyn Winters caught the bouquet at Jenny Collins’ Christmas wedding in New York a little over a year ago she’d been doomed. Her twin sister Carrie who all but shoved her aside to try to snatch the bouquet from the air, was going to laugh herself silly at what had transpired since that night. So were the rest of the O’Briens, for that matter. They loved irony.

Noah McIlroy the family medicine resident whom she’d met soon after the wedding and with whom she’d been having a serious relationship since last September, is not so sad that an apparent defective condom has gotten them to this place. She trusted Noah when he had assured her that it would be sufficient. She should have had three or four backups. The man had cast a spell over her from the minute they’d met, literally one week after she’d caught the blasted romantic bouquet with all its superstition. Now more than a year later, her she is pregnant.

She was supposed to be the grounded, goal oriented sister. Carrie was the one everyone had expected to fall madly in love and marry before college graduation. Instead Carrie is jetting around the world, leading a carefree life, building a career in PR for a big fashion designer and tossing away men like used tissues while she pined for one unobtainable man. Now here she is with a positive pregnancy test result.

This was a pretty standard love story. I was expecting more of a Christmas theme but that didn't happen. I have read many of Ms. Woods books and usually they have more substance than this one did, I was disappointed. I knew exactly what was going to happen, and when it was going to happen, darn!

I do like the O'Briens of Chesapeake Shores. Caitlyn Winters is a spoiled. She is upset that her plans to be a doc. and return to poor countries to give them medical help has run into a road block. Now granted she does want to do good when she becomes a Doctor.

Noah McIlroy is going to be done in a few months and be a full doctor. He wants to serve in a small community that needs a Doctor. I am more a Noah fan. He is happy with the prospect of being a father. He loves Caitlyn and wants to meet her family.

Their is a lot of O'briens who interfere when they find out that their will be a new generation to be born.

Noah can't get Caitlyn to make plans so he goes ahead and change his plans in a small ways. He decides that he could be needed in Chesapeake Shores. It is a community that needs doctors. He will be close to Caitlyn as she finishes her training.

It does take forever it seemed for Caitlyn to make up her mind of what she can live with. I like Noah's attitude of letting Caitlyn make up her mind without pressure except for one important thing. He let her know that he loved her and would be their for her.

I like the idea of giving back. The different areas they can make a difference but to realize you can only do so much.

It is always fun to see the O'Briens in action. How they all think Mic is behind everything but than they all do the same thing.

Now we need to see Caitlyn's twin sister find her passions.

I was given this ebook from Net Galley and Harlequin. In return for honest reviews of The Christmas Bouquet.

Caitlyn was from idyllic Chesapeake Shores, of a "Norman Rockwell-like" Irish O'Brien family, shared intimacy with a hunk of a medical student, and suddenly finds the less-than-perfect prophylactic causes "baby Makes 3." Noah's thrilled and ready for marriage plus fatherhood. Cait balks, unable to abandon her dream of returning to Africa as a pediatrician to "make a difference." The O'Brien clan unites to pressure Cait into an "I do." With the babe due in December, and the mother unwed, it foretells a great change ahead for Christmas. Somewhat predictable but who wants SAD for the holiday?
The career vs. parenthood priority clash is very contemporary. A unique romance angle, but simply another family Christmas crisis for Sherryl Woods' O'Brien clan of Chesapeake Bay.

Sherryl Woods' prowess identifies family member characters with past events of previous series' books. "The Christmas Bouquet" can be read as a stand-alone. For all those who are dedicated to the O'Brien saga, it stirs many a trip down the O'Brien memory lane. Nearer to novella than novel length--perfect for holiday reading--it clings to the romance within the family for plot, exactly what has made this author a best seller.
A sugar-n-spice feel-good seasonal reading delight.

Quote: "Love takes work & compromise & understanding & respect."
That's a good wrap-up for "The Christmas Bouquet."
I've not read all the Chesapeake Shores series but I have read and do recommend the jolly holiday volumes of the O'Brien Christmas affairs.
There's a Kindle option, but make it hard cover if you are gifting to a romance reader friend.
