Once you have read a Diana Gabaldon book, you will have a hard time reading a book by any other author. I have read every book she has written most of them more than once. I have just finished her latest book and my only regret is that the book ended. If you enjoy a good book read the Outlander series, you will not be disappointed.

Once you start this series, it is too late to run away. You are hooked. Outlander and its sequels have a great love story and incredible sense of the history and personal lives of the time. In eight novels, all 800-1000 pages each, there is never a boring moment.

My friends raved about Diana Gabaldon and her book OUTLANDER, but of course I wasn't sure that it could be THAT good. However, as soon as I read the first book I was totally hooked on the story. It is a long and at times very detailed book, which may put some off but keep reading, and you will get completely lost in the vivid world that Diana Gabaldon has created.

The story begins when Claire Randall, a young combat nurse in World War II, travels to Scotland with her beloved husband to reignite their marriage, which was interrupted by the war. Hiking one day, Claire magically travels through the stones of an ancient stone circle, and lands smack bang in 18th century Scotland. Although Claire is alone in an alien culture and time, she's determined to find her way home. However, when her path crosses with a young Highland warrior... James Fraser her future and desire to return home are suddenly conflicted. She realizes that this handsome warrior is linked to her future and although unwilling and trying to fight against her rising feelings for him, she falls in love. The story is vivid, brutal, gritty, full of passion and love.

Needless, to say I fell in love with the story and the characters that Diana Gabaldon has created and I will be reading the rest in the series!

Wonderful book! I must have them all! Couldn't put it down, fell in love with the characters. A real page turner! If you're looking for books with history, romance, a little time travel, this is it. Very well written. I'm hard to please, but Diana Gabaldon really has me addicted!
