Not the worst book, not the best book.
Lilac Wolf and Stuff
I really felt like the book was never going to end, and when it did, the ending was predictable.

I'm getting a real 'Annie Wilkes from MISERY' vibe reading some of these reviews. I think it's interesting--and a bit sad--that some
reviewers are trashing this book because they don't agree with the behavior of the main character. (It seems as though they are passing moral judgment and reviewing Shea's behavior and not the novel itself). Creating morally complex situations and characters would seem to be Emily Giffin's trademark and what makes her such an interesting writer. She doesn't do cliches or predictable story lines. She consistently puts her characters in difficult situations in order to explore the murky gray area of relationships. She did this in Something Borrowed; again in Love the One You're With; and certainly in Heart of the Matter. This is also what she does in THE ONE AND ONLY. Look, you may not agree with Shea's choices or her "decision" about who to love, but I believe that is actually the point of the story. We can't decide who to love --and trying to balance our desires with the expectations of others can be a tricky proposition at best, and cause quite a bit of heartache. I applaud Emily's brave story and hope that she continues to be true to herself, as it takes real courage to follow your heart. If you have an open mind about love and life, you will absolutely love this book.

I enjoyed reading this book as it was a quick read but it was very predictable and you kind of figured out what was going to happen very early on. As other wrote about to many football references, I thought it was just fine as clearly that was a big part of the book.

I have read all of Emily Giffen's books. This was not her very best but it was good. I found all of the characters interesting and even learned a little more abt football and college football. I recommend this to anyone as it is a great story with a little love ;
