Eleventh in the Lucky Harbor romance series and revolving around key hotties in town. The couple focus in He’s So Fine is on Olivia Bentley and Cole Donovan.

This ARC was provided by NetGalley and publisher in exchange for an honest review.

My Take
In He's So Fine, it's an unexpected battle for Cole. He's never experienced a woman so determined to keep him at arm's length. As for Olivia, she's determined to not succumb because her entire life has been one of expectation, obligation, and abandonment. She's not gonna go there anymore. That's not the only battle Cole has, though. He still hasn't dealt with the death of his friend nor the death of his dreams with his fiancée.

These two are so alike, and yet so different. Cole knows what family is; Olivia only knows about the concept.

I love Cole's family. Yeah, they can be poke at ya pretty good, but it's done with love and affection, never the greed and demanding attitude that Olivia experiences. What is with her mother and sister anyway? They need money? Well, just go to the family cash cow and whine, just do this show, so we can take your money, whine, we deserve it, whine…screw your hopes, dreams, and wishes, just make ours come true, whine… I'd kick them to the curb and suggest they get jobs.

I mean, what the heck? Olivia bought her mother a hair salon. One that if "managed properly, she doesn't have to work a day", and Jolyn claims that her job is coping with their mother…so why isn't she running the hair salon to earn the money her mother needs for her next boob job? If I'd been Olivia, I'd'a slugged Jolyn, pushed her out the door, and then locked it. Her family interactions sure can't get any worse.

So this was a cute, romantic read, but also touching and humorous, in true Jill Shalvis fashion. Lucky Harbor seems to be the place to go to find true love, and that's only one reason why this town is so great. It's also filled with people who may gossip about you, but love you and have your back. This time around, we have Cole, a native of Lucky Harbor, who returned two years ago after tragedy struck and heartbreak followed closely after. Being the local MacGyver and Charter boat captain (beside his two equally hot best friends), Cole is well loved and admired, but has kept his heart at a distance with his high expectations and unresolved hurts. When shop owner Olivia literally lands on him, he finds himself unable to ignore his heart's wants any longer. Olivia has her own difficult past and set of hurts a mile long, so despite her attraction to Cole's kindness and honesty (and looks), her heart is also having some troubles of its own.

I love the way Cole's character was set up. He's not your typical alpha male hero, though still with some alpha tendencies to make it interesting. But he has so many other great and intriguing qualities, that he really made for a terrific hero for me to read about. I loved that he wanted to help Olivia (and anyone else he sees), but slowly he also becomes aware of the things he needs to deal with in his own life. Also, seeing him alongside Sam and Tanner, as well as his mother and sisters, really rounded out his well-meaning, flawed, but heartsy personality.

Olivia was also a fun, unique character to get to know. She has such a strength about her, yet the walls and secrets she has built around her don't hide her kind nature and tender spirit.

The last book, In His Kiss, was Smokin'. Awesome chemistry. Super hot guy. Fun story that kept me entertained. I'm a little sad to say this one was ok but not great. I liked the female lead quite a bit. The lead male was a little meh for me. I loved his pockets and handiness but otherwise just didn't love him I'm sad to say.

I really enjoy this series and have always been a huge fan of Jill Shalvis.

The best part of this book was I didn't have to wade through heaps of spelling mistakes and grammatical errors. Currently too many stories and articles are released with errors that would have been picked up if editors/authors read their work before hitting publish. I know there are a lot of self published authors who can't afford expensive editing, but I have recently read books from big named publishers who I pay quite a bit more for and they still send out shoddy work. Congratulations to Ms Shalvis and her team for their hard work in making it so easy to read.

I enjoyed this story, but I can't say that the characters were my favourites. This book was not a great example of friendship. I think I would choose to be a loner if I had friends who made decisions like they did. I think it was unrealistic for Olivia, Sam and Tanner to expect him to just 'get over it'. Sam and Tanner had their reasons, which I didn't agree with, but to keep it a secret for a further 2 years was unforgivable IMO.

The relationship that was developing between Cole and Olivia seemed a bit off. As with most relationships in these types of stories, all problems stem from a lack of communication. When I am reading books like this I tend to scream in my head, "would you just talk it out already!!!"

Olivia's family were not particularly likeable and I felt that too many things were left unresolved by the end of the story.

This wasn't my favourite in the series, but it still received 4 stars because it certainly made me feel something towards the characters...not all good. But this was a 'Jill Shalvis' and her work still puts a smile on my face and I am still a dedicated fan.
