Iones' second MoonBound Vampires paranormal deftly uses a mixture of complex rivalries, primal violence and sex to portray a society in which frequent vampire enslavement provokes a civil-rights dispute ... Ione's characters are relatable and sympathetic both because of and despite their id-drenched setting, and Ione's flavor of vampirism produces a fascinating mixture of authoritarianism, atavism, and compassionate humanity that works on multiple levels Publishers Weekly Ione has created a fascinating vampire world steeped in Native American traditions and lore and developed a path to happiness for Hunter and Aylin that is fraught with potent and poignant internal and external conflicts. The action-packed plot and creative worldbuilding keep us enthralled; the romance and sexual tension keep us emotionally invested Kirkus Reviews

Bound by Night (MoonBound Clan Vampire, #1) was my first foray into the writing of Larissa Ione. I was familiar with a few of her other established works (Demonica and Lords of Deliverance to be exact), but this series was attractive since I could start from the top and not get too behind. I enjoyed the first one more than I was expecting to so I was really looking forward to this one. Overall this was another entertaining entry, but I did miss some of the wit and humor found in the first one. This was more angsty for sure.
We learn more about Hunter's character as he takes center stage, but Ryker and Nicole are still integral characters to this plot. I wasn't totally sure how I was going to feel about the twin sister fiasco. It sounded too much like a text book soap opera storyline, but it wasn't so bad. It's still not my favorite way to go about things, but it didn't ruin the story. There was this one scene that totally reminded me of Beauty and the Beast and I found it thoroughly enjoyable (it's one of my top 3 Disney films if you didn't know that about me ~_^). I found some side characters a bit more interesting than the main couple, but the good thing about these books is that those characters will get central focus in future entries. Ione has certainly piqued my interest there. So with that said I am looking forward to the next one. I wish these were published twice a year instead of once. Overall the world is pretty interesting and there's still a lot more to explore when it comes to the the dynamics between humans and vampires.

In a love triangle worthy of daytime soap operas, CHAINED BY NIGHT focuses on the MoonBound Clan leader Hunter and the affections of two women, twin sisters Rasha and Aylin. Both will make him lose his mind, but he'll only enjoy it with one of them!
As a second generation born vampire, Hunter has responsibilities to his clan that can't be ignored. In order to prevent a war between his beloved MoonBound clan and neighboring clan ShadowSpan, Hunter has agreed to mate with the leader's daughter Rasha, even though he despises every single thing about the woman. And once Hunter meets her twin sister Aylin, he immediately wants her instead. But Hunter is duty bound, and when he finds a loophole in the demonic curse that insists he give up his first born child, he agrees to go through a series of trials in the demon Samnult's realm. Since Rasha won't accompany him, Aylin steps up to the plate.
But Aylin is damaged. With a deformed leg, she's considered inferior in her own clan. She's skeptical just how far she'll make it on Hunter's quest, but she'll do anything to try and save her first born niece or nephew. It's too bad she can't save her heart from breaking once she falls deeply for Hunter...and he for her. Between Samnult's creatures, the other clans who are threatening MoonBound and the human hunters, Hunter has a whole lot on his plate, but now that he has something to live for he's not going down without a fight.
CHAINED BY NIGHT is book 2 in The MoonBound Clan Vampires series by the goddess of dark and erotic paranormal romance stories, Larissa Ione. I was surprisingly enraptured by the first book in the series, Bound by Night, and had high hopes for this one as well.Read more ›

I have been a HUGE fan of Larissa Ione's since I read her Demonica series back in 2009 when I served in the Navy. (Larissa Ione was my go-to author to read after a stressful day at work) I devoured the books back to back, so whenever Larissa brings out a new book/series I'm always there to buy it and read it within a day or two (depending on this stay at home mom's schedule).
Chained by Night definitely did not disappoint at all, and I got to savor every bit of this world Larissa created without any interruptions. (I may have gave my husband the evil stare, whenever he tried to interrupt me reading this book. He definitely learned not to interrupt when reading Larissa's books. LOL)
Chained by Night picks up where Bound by Night left the readers off last, where Hunter has committed to a long-time mating to Rasha from a rival clan. Unfortunately, this relationship is not going to be a happy one at all because Hunter cannot stand his soon-to-be mate. No there's no liking Rasha at all. In fact I wanted to smack her around whenever she had a part in the book. She's all about following the strict ways of her clan and she finds Hunter's way of being too soft. Hunter finds Rasha's father's ways of being too barbaric though. Hunter's going to do everything he can for his clan, so that means hooking up with the craziness such as Rasha. ***Let's just say readers will not want Hunter to hook up with the craziness of Rasha.
There are several other dilemmas that come forward in Chained by Night that make the book hard to put down. The humans are getting relentless and now they want to kill every vampire out there. There's also the issue of Hunter meeting Rasha's twin sister and how he finds her very intriguing and unforgettable.Read more ›
