JM Darhower is the author of countless stories and poems, most of which only she has ever read. She lives in a tiny town in rural North Carolina, where she churns out more words than will ever see the light of day. She has a deep passion for politics and speaking out against human trafficking, and when she isn't writing she's usually ranting about those things. Chronic crimper with a vulgar mouth, she admits to having a Twitter addiction. You can find her there. @JMDarhower
I did enjoy the book. I absolutely loved the first book but I have found that I don't enjoy her sequels as much. Same the happened with redemption. I just found it extremely hard to believe that karissa could get over what naz did. The dad fine, but the mom, no way. I know it talked about her struggle with this but I just don't think it was enough turmoil to convince me you could forgive someone who did this. That is the only thing I really struggle with in this book.

Don’t even attempt to read this book without having read Monster in His Eyes first which I would like to add, is an absolutely marvellous thriller full of twists and turns and will have you sitting on the edge of your seat. Not only did the cliffy leave me aghast, but the anticipation I also had for the release date of this follow up has literally been a long waiting game and believe you me, it was worth it!
I just love the author’s style of writing! And at one point, if I hadn't known that the writer is female, one would have thought that this book has been written by a male author. How on earth she has the ability to think like a man is quite uncanny. The whole book is written from Ignazio Vitale’s point of view except for a bonus scene at the end of the story. His internal battle to do what is right, even though it is wrong, pulls him to shreds. Naz shouldn't have fallen in love with Karissa. He knows that their relationship is a live wire waiting to detonate at any time. The question is— will he be ready when it does?
‘We each hold nuclear weapons inside of us, our fingers always hovering over the buttons for detonation.’
Banter abounds throughout the book. It is written in such a way that it felt like I was a fly on the wall listening to Karissa complain to Naz about him repeating what she says. In a nut shell, the dialogue is fan-freakin’-tastic!
She groans loudly. “Can you not do that right now?” “Can I not do what?” “That! Repeating everything I say in that tone you use.” “Repeating everything,” I say, “in the tone I use?” “Naz!Read more ›

Oh it woes me to only give TTHS 2 Stars. (Though I do give 4 stars for Ms. Darhower's very talented writing skills.)
I absolutely loved MIHE. J.M. Darhower is in many ways a very creative and brilliant writer/story-teller. MIHE was a unique, passionate, gritty, and dark romance read for me. I fell in love with Naz immediately. So much. I loved how he loved Karissa- and how she loved him right back. They were both effed up in their own ways- most especially Naz, but they were perfect for each other and destined to be together, as far as I was concerned.
SPOILER ALERT! SPOILER ALERT! Stop reading if you don't want spoilers!
TTHS started off very good. A little slow at times, but I was hooked and falling even deeper in love with Naz. However, the minute he killed Karissa's mother- that ended for me. I fell out of love with him so quickly, my head spun. It made absolutely no sense. It was completely uncalled for. It was utterly wrong. Her father.... okay, fine. Naz is in the "mafia" after all, and Karissa's father did a really horrible, awful, evil thing. And I understood Naz's reasoning for wanting to kill Karissa and her mother at first- until of course he met Karissa and fell in love with her in MIHE. If the mafia is about anything, it's revenge and "an eye for and eye"- and then some! But that all changed for Naz when he fell deeply and obsessively in love with Karissa. Or so I thought. Karissa's father made his bed and got what he deserved. Actually he got off kind of easy. Her mother.... well that was over-kill. Literally. And just like that, there was no way I could any longer believe that Naz truly loved Karissa. He just became a total and completely messed up mafia psychopath to me, who no longer knows what real love is.Read more ›

Monster in His Eyes is one of my favorite dark/romantic suspense books of the year. When I heard the sequel coming out was all from Naz’s pov, I was ecstatic. I always get a little nervous when an amazing 5 star book has a sequel. It seems about half the time, they don’t live up to the original story and that high you had about the book starts to dwindle. I can say with absolute certainty that did not happen here! Torture to Her Soul was just as good as Monster in His Eyes. If anything, it might have been a little bit better!
Naz never meant to care for Karissa. He certainly never meant to fall in love with her. When he met her, he wanted one thing and one thing only. The monster in him wanted her for revenge. But now, things have changed.
Karissa and Naz’s relationship is complicated to say the least. Karissa is finding it difficult to trust anything that Naz says or does. She is hurt and she is not making their situation any easier. In fact, she’s making it much more difficult. Naz is being as patient with her as he can. He knows most of this is his fault and he’s trying not to make it harder on her than it already is.
Naz is caught in a tough spot. He has choices to make. He has to decide what type of man he wants to be. Will he make the decisions he feels forced to make, or will he do what he thinks is right for him...
I love how this author can take such a serious, dark and suspenseful book and give it such light hearted moments. There were a few spots that left a smile on my face. And the author sure brought the heat! The sex between Naz and Karissa was hotter than ever. It was angry and rough. It was passionate and sexy.
Naz is complex. He’s a broken, tortured and haunted man. He is not a good guy, but he’s not all bad either.Read more ›
