THE EX GAMES 1 (THE EX GAMES MINISERIES) by J.S. COOPER & HELEN COOPER
What an unexpected read! I didn’t have any expectations when I read this book. I didn’t even know it was a miniseries til I opened it but I got so much more. It was a different story. Something new, at least for me. The storyline is different and though it was short, everything fit perfectly. You will get the same amount of laughter, frustration, love and sex in this book. It was such a good read. Very entertaining. I have some books by J.S. Cooper in my to-read for some time now and this is her 1st work that I have read and I must say I am very impressed. The writing is straight to the point and didn’t have any flowery words to it and I like how she & Helen made a storyline that’s so enticing and will leave you wanting for more.
Katie is an 18 year old girl & a college freshman and one night of clubbing with her friends, she met this very handsome man only to find out that he is 35 years old. The funny thing is, she lied about her age. She told him that she’s 22 and she’s new to NY and working in some company. Sparks fly and they both fell in love. The relationship was amazing til the day he found out her real age. He broke up with her and left her like a slut. It broke her and seven years later, they meet again. Interesting? Indeed. But you have not read anything yet. Believe me, this is a good read. So good you’ll want to read book 2 ASAP.
J.S. & Helen Cooper made this story interesting and enticing enough for readers to want more. And I certainly want more. Lucky for me, book 2 is out and I will read it ASAP. Book 3 though is yet to go live on the 9th but it is just a few days away so it’s okay. I can handle that. I wish this series is a long one. I want more and I don’t want it to end in book 3. I hope the authors of this book will change their mind. Hihihihihi
Highly recommended. J.S. & Helen Cooper did not disappoint.

Here's the thing, it's not impossible for readers to sympathize with characters who are liars and caused their own heartbreak. However, in The Ex Games, Katie Raymond (protagonist) has absolutely no redeeming qualities. Over and over again the authors insist that she's smart - she's so smart she went to Columbia! She's only 25 and she's a manager! She's so smart she freaks out when the guy she barely knows owns a box of condoms! But even in novels, actions speak louder words. Katie doesn't make an intelligent decision throughout the entire book and, despite the authors insistence that she's more mature at twenty-five, then when she was at eighteen, she's really not.
The story is poorly constructed. Comprised of mostly flashbacks, there aren't enough scenes in the present to make sense of why the authors decided to frame the story around present day. It would've made more sense for the first book to follow Katie from her freshmen year in college to their breakup and then, in the last chapter, fast-forward years later when Katie finds out her new boss is Brandon. That's how that you establish conflict. Instead we're "treated" to filler scenes where present-day-Katie repeats the same complaints over and over and over and over before going back in time and telling us how their relationship used to be.
And the thing is, I don't care. Katie is a ridiculously immature protagonist who's managed to find an equally immature love interest. If the authors didn't give Brandon's age, I would've assumed he was twenty-one at the most and possibly fourteen. Brandon is anti-clubs and anti-relationships but goes to clubs and gets into a relationship without any conflict of interest at all.Read more ›

WOW what a read, could not put it down. Part of me wanted to rip Brandons head off not once but twice, then part of me wanted to smack katie up side the head near the end and say"whats a matter with you make him work for it". This story has everything, everything. I have read all of J.S Coopers books and can honestly say for every new book I read they just get better and better like a good wine. I can not wait for part 2 & 3. I already have reminders in my phone for their due dates.

So Katie is fresh out of high school and after an abnormal night out on the town she ends up spending the night with Brandon. With how sweet he was to her at the beginning you almost can't believe the devil he turns into! I freaking loved this book and yes it was a quick read but it will be and epic trilogy of novellas. I was shocked and awed many times through (Dumpster... The ENDING!) but I was also made to swoon a bit.... then Brandon pissed me off again. She didn't mean to lie but when she did it spun way out of control and there was no way to reign it in. Just a few numbers off on her age making her slightly older, not much considering Brandon is a bit older lol but enough that I see a smidgen of Brandons problem but the way he handle's it (After the epic way of him finding out) Was so wrong it was perfect! Love J.S. Cooper and Helen Cooper they have out done themselves and I can't wait to see what will happen with Katie and Brandon thankfully we won't be waiting long!

Great story idea......I didn't really know what to expect but I am pleased and surprised so far...I loved the way the story went from flashbacks of the the past to the present. I am so eagerly awaiting the 2nd and 3rd installments
