"Thank you," I said, holding my hands behind my head, hoping my hair hid the fact that my wrists were bound together with seat belt straps."
Books in the Surrender series should be read in order: Book 1: Forbidden Surrender Book 2: Secret Surrender Book 3: Beautiful Surrender
In Forbidden Surrender (book 1) wealth manager Kristen Daley pitched tattooed surfer turned self-made Billionaire Vincent Sorenson on letting her company invest his fortune. Kristen strived to maintain a professional relationship while Vincent zeroed in on seduction...
In Secret Surrender (book 2) Vincent and Kristen are working together while secretly embarking on a romantic and sexual relationship. Follow them on clandestine meetings, cyber sex and weekend escapes on his private jet...
Just as their relationship was progressing well, but with the dialogue feeling stilted at times and story becoming predictable we are thrown for a twist. One I hadn't anticipated, but very much enjoyed. To top it off book 2 ended with a cliffy, but no worries as book 3, Beautiful Surrender is already available.
HERO: Vincent Sorenson/31 years/$$$$/CEO Sandworks/dark blond hair/brown eyes/piercings, tattoos. Underneath the Armani suit we have a bit a bad boy with tattoos and piercings but mostly an honorable man. Seven words to describe Vincent: Relentless, charming, noble, driven, thrill-seeker, reasonable and complex.
HEROINE: Kristen Daley/25 years/wealth manager/recent Harvard graduate/dark brown hair/brown eyes. Though there are mitigating circumstances to Kristin Daley's sometimes meek, insecure and predictable behavior I still haven't been able to connect with her.Read more ›

I enjoyed the books, but I wish they were longer. I finished the trilogy in just over a day. But I loved the story, reminded me of a short version of 50 Shades of Grey

When Kristen Daley meets Vincent Sorensen, she certainly gets more than what she bargained for. Kristen is a financial analyst trying to secure Vincent, a billionaire entrepreneur, as the newest client for the firm she works for. It will be a huge step for her career. She has researched everything she can about him and his company. He is a tattooed surfer who turned his love of extreme sports into a billion dollar company. She could never have predicted the physical effect he would have on her. She is immediately attracted to him and she can tell he feels the same way. She is reluctant to get involved with him for personal as well as professional reasons. However her resistance will only last for so long. She has been hurt in the past and does not want to jeopardize her career for some man.
In a genre that certainly is being done more and more, Ms. West manages to keep things fresh, original and exciting. Yes, Vincent is wealthy and a bit of a bad boy, but his attitude is refreshing. He is not a complete dominant alpha male, nor does he feel the need to know Kristen’s every move. Yes he is protective and definitely pursues her hard but he is not overbearing or controlling. Kristen is also not our typical damsel in distress type either. Yes she does have a past that comes back to haunt her, but she is not helpless.
The chemistry between these two is hot hot hot! Kristen has an uncontrollable physical reaction to Vincent when he is around. He feels the same way about her. For a man who could clearly have any woman, this is absolutely about more than sex for him. The sex scenes are great and manage to not be repetitive. They spend a lot of time apart so when they are able to be together things get hot. Fast.Read more ›

I received this book via Netgalley for an honest review.
This second installment has me a little annoyed with Kristen which I find more whining and demanding than I expected. Granted, I understand her behavior to a certain extent, but to be honest her doubts and tears annoyed me pretty fast in this installment.
I still don’t know what to expect from Vincent and I think his characterization is pretty weak. There’s nothing deep so far and many scenes were not detailed which would have otherwise helped his characterization and even Kristen’s.
Though, the sex scenes are very much detailed! In fact, I think these sex scene while very hot and well-written, take too much space in the story instead of the plot and twists. When I think back to what happened so far between Kristen and Vincent, other than the sex I can’t exactly find anything worth mentioning.
Even though the installments in this series are rather short, I think that doesn’t mean the plot, twists and even sub-plots should be overlooked. There is material for something wonderful here and unfortunately the execution is lacking that little something to win me over.
The writing is simple but efficient, the emotions not exactly always reaching out to me and the chemistry between Vincent and Kristen not that interesting to be honest. That’s also because I would have loved something that would have gripped me more firmly, something that would have made my heart flutter instead of just showing me how horny these characters are.
Also, the relationship is getting serious so fast! At least, Kristen is getting serious quite fast. Once again, I don’t understand the evolution here and somehow it’s really frustrating for me.Read more ›
