Brazos Bend - Matt. Emily March has done it again. The second book of her Brazos Bend series is even better than the first, and it was great.
Victoria "Torie" Bradshaw is on the run; in the wrong place at the wrong time, after she saw something she shouldn't have and has the photos to prove it. Matt Callahan has been sent, by her father, to rescue her only Torie is not who Matt was sent to get. He thinks she's her twin Helen.... OOPS. Matt is Torie’s James Bond, everything he does and how he looks reminds her about her favorite super spy.. and she does like James Bond… Torie survives a dunking, a trek through the jungle, and Matt’s kisses (to keep her quiet) and on the ride home she shoots him.. Say What?? Yikes!
Skip forward : Matt is angry, he hasn't recovered from the shooting as well as he thought, another mission proves it. He returns to his Winery in Brazos Bend exhausted and disgusted with the situation and himself. Then who should show up out of the blue? "That Woman", the one who is the cause for all his anger and angst. Torie is being stalked and she can’t think of anyone else to run to. Matt doesn’t believe her, doesn’t want anything to do with her, and yet… Things escalate and soon Matt begins to realize that she truly is being stalked, Matt asks his brother Mark to check on some things at Torie’s apartment, and Mark accidently triggers a bomb, meant for Torie.
Matt and Torie have their ups and downs, emotions and passions flare. She is driving him crazy, but Matt finally figures it out, he needs to help, he has to help, because if he doesn’t he is going to lose what he really wants.. Torie!
This is a story that will keep you engaged until the very last page. Read #2, Matt of Brazos Bend, welcome back…

Another reviewer was absolutely right when they said that this second book in Emily March's Brothers of Brazos Bend series is even better than the first and that's saying something since I loved Luke's story in book one. Not only has March made the Callahan brothers handsome, smart, danger thwarting good guys, she's made the women in the story just as intelligent and appealing as the guys. Our heroine, Torie Bradshaw is a force to reckoned with and Matt figures by the end of their time together he's either going to have to kill her or marry her!
The excitement starts with a little back story on how Torie and Matt met on a danger filled island and ended up running for their lives. They survived but not without some painful consequences for Matt and when Torie shows up in his life again months later asking for help, it's all he can do not to toss her out the door. In fact he practically does, but unfortunately there's this tiny part of him that can't forget how hot the chemistry was between them and he wonders if he should take a chance and find out if taking her to bed is worth the risk.
Torie is in trouble... she's being stalked and this guy means business and unless she gets some help and fast, she's as good as dead. So even though she knows she's not CIA spook Matt Callahan's favorite person, she takes a chance and asks him for help. But with the attraction between them off the charts, Torie wonders if her safety might come at the expense of a broken heart.
This is a great story, action packed with plenty of drama, suspense, sex and humor with a happily ever after that would make James Bond proud. It was everything I look for in a great read and I'm anxious for book three to come out October 17th so we can see how the Callahan brothers deal with all the changes in their lives and if they'll reconcile with their estranged father. Five stars for Emily March and Matt-The Callahan Brothers of Brazos Bend!

Matt- The Callahan Brothers is a must read! It will have you sitting on the edge of your seat. You won't be able to put it down. The suspense grabs you, the sparks between Matt and Victoria holds you! It's James Bond meets his Bond Girl. Victoria 'Torie' Bradshaw finds herself running for her life when Matt 'Demon' Callahan literally appears out of no where to rescue her. Matt is asked by a friend to bring the daughter of the friend back home. When he sets eyes on Torie mistaking her for her sister Helen the attraction is instant. The sparks fly as they hide out to figure a safe way out. The truth of her identity and a gun shot later they go their seperate ways until Torie shows up hoping for Matt's help. With a not in this lifetime smile Matt tells her to find someone else. Torie ingores his advice much to his ire. When things turn personnel Matt and Torie fight for their loved ones as well as their feelings for each other. Torie goes from Bond Girl to Callahan Girl. Matt goes from pushing Torie away to doing anything he can to hold her close. When the cards are one the table all the rules go out the door. You'll be in for the ride of your life when 007 goes Double-Oh-Yeah.

Strong, independent Torie Bradshaw doesn’t like playing the damsel in distress, but when a stalker’s threats finally frighten her into running, she knows of only one hero to call on for help: Matt Callahan. Matt can’t deny his protective instincts or the fact that Torie has gotten under his skin. So when a killer comes to call, Matt faces a startling reality—he’s about to lose all the things he never thought he wanted.
Callahan, Matt Callahan. Don't call him James Bond, he might get a little angry with you :) Torie has a thing for Bond though and that leads to some wonderful moments. I loved Matt and Torie's story and I loved them together. The story that brought them together was well done and had it's moments of suspense. I LOVED, LOVED, LOVED the ending! Can't tell you anything about it or I'd give away the story, so you'll just have to read it for yourself!
You can read this book without having read the first book in the series, Luke: The Callahan Brothers. However, I always want to read a series in order so that I have the full back ground. Luke makes an appearance in this book and it was nice to catch up with him. The other brother, Mark, is introduced a bit more here as well. I can't wait to get the rest of his story in Mark: The Callahan Brothers, which will release in October 2014.
This is a great read for fans of Ms. March's Eternity Springs series.
This book was previously published under Ms. March's pseudonym, Geralyn Dawson as "Never Say Never." Matt: The Callahan Brothers will be available September 19, 2014.
I received this book for free from Ms. March under the agreement that I would post an honest review.
