About the Author
Yasmine Galenorn is the New York Times bestselling author of the Otherworld series (Crimson Veil, Autumn Whispers, Haunted Moon) and the Indigo Court series (Night Veil, Night Seeker, Night Vision).
New York Times, USA Today, and Publishers Weekly bestselling author Yasmine Galenorn writes two bestselling urban fantasy series: the Otherworld Series (Sisters of the Moon Series), and the Indigo Court Series, both for Berkley. She will soon be adding an Otherworld spinoff--the Fly By Night Series. She's also written a paranormal mystery series (the Chintz 'n China Series) for Berkley Prime Crime, a short-lived mystery series (the Bath & Body Series) under the name of India Ink, again for Berkley Prime Crime, and eight metaphysical nonfiction books (Llewellyn Publications and Crossing Press).
Yasmine is a shamanic witch, and walks an eclectic path. She considers her life a blend of teacups and tattoos--the former in her china closet, the latter on her skin. She's a theatre major, a graduate of the Evergreen State College (Olympia WA). She lives in the Seattle WA area with her husband and is the mother of four cats.
Because so many people ask, you pronounce her name this way: Yaz-mihn (NOT Jasmine--it's a "Y", not a "J"). Last name is pronounced: Gal-eh-norn The accent is on the first syllable.
I always look forward to Camile's books the most as I love her trio of men so much, but I'm not so sure how I feel about the romance department in this one. I mean Camile has these three awesome husbands and some of my favorite parts of her books has been watching the three men bumbling along trying to work together and balance their time with Camile, etc. However, this time around Camile is separated from two of them leaving that fun dynamic out. There was a pretty emotional beginning as Camile dealt with Trillian having to leave for a time, which was really hard on her. But when Smoky had a problem with Camile needing to leave to go on a very dangerous quest, she basically shut him down completely claiming it was her duty. It just left a bit of a sour taste in my mouth as Smoky seems to frequently get the short end of things. I guess I was just hoping for more of the dynamic between all four of them, and that just didn't happen. That being said, the smexy scenes were still there, perhaps not as hot as they have been in the past, but definitely still steamy.
Camile being separated by all but one of her men aside, I was largely enjoying this book. The quest gave things a bit of a different feel and a change of pace that I liked. Add that into the growing world dynamic with the dragons and the reveals that happen surrounding Morgaine and I was utterly hooked. The book was one heck of a journey, and I've always been a fan of quest books. But I will note that while I was really enjoying the storyline, the ending turned a bit sour for me as I felt the resolution was way too easy. Things were portrayed as the biggest bad they've face, which when you consider just how many foes they've come up again, that's saying something. And yet...Read more ›

Before i review i have to say i completely love this series and thoroughly enjoy all of Yasmine's works. I do enjoy her work with character development, mythology, new characters that we either grow to love/hate, and adding depth to each character regardless if they are minor. That being said the story in this book was great, i loved that the Merlin was introduced. However the only criticism that i have if it is even a criticism is that Yasmine's formula for the past few books are starting to get a tad predictable ( i.e. death of a loved one( I knew Shamas was going to be killed the moment i saw that Camille would be gathering souls) but i think the purpose of this is to make the deaths of the war more personal for the girls). I also wish she would have explored ( which may or may not be covered in a future book) more of Camille's training as a Dark moon priestess ( Derisa may be her high priestess but if i am correct they mentioned a Dark moon priestess who leads all of the Sorceresses for the Moon Mother in an earlier book, it would be cool if she made an appearance) and more in depth the legend of the three women who previously possessed the daggers that each of the girls have. Maybe its my thirst for more books who knows but Yasmine keep it coming please!!!!

I was lucky enough to get my hands on an ARC of this for review purposes and I was so excited! I have been with this series since day 1 and can tell you that ANY fans of urban fantasy novels SHOULD BE READING IT! 16 books in you may worry that things are slowing down but in this series it is quite the opposite. The problems are still growing but as are the characters around to help deal with things. The series rotates the main narrators between the three sisters which I think help keeps things feeling fresh and we are back to the first sister Camille for this installment which are always my favorites (not that the others aren’t amazing). This book is quite a rollercoaster read with some moments of real levity that were definitely appreciated (Note to self – Never buy a scroll for decorating the house …) and moments that have you frantically turning the pages to see if and how people will survive.
An easy 5 out of 5 stars from me with the recommendation that anyone who hasn’t started the series does so with great haste …. and for those of you waiting for book 16 .. you won’t be disappointed! V””V

Camille is sent on a quest into the land of the Elder Fae to awaken The Merlin in order to fight an ancient dragon that has awakened. Others are along for the journey, so she must watch her back as well fight her way to the crystal cave in this thrilling Otherworld novel. There is never a dull moment as beloved characters return and new ones are introduced, destinies are progressing and danger lurks from known and unknown sources to keep the readers on the edge of their seat and surprising twist that I certainly didn’t see coming. And I have to say that the Winter Solstice gathering leaves the story on an upbeat and happy note even as it lets us know that there is more to come for the D’Artigo sisters and their friends and I for one cannot wait.

I've been reading this series since the very first book came out and it just gets better and better. While I've read plenty of other series where major changes happen, those same series always end up losing what I loved about them in the first place. That has never been the case with this series. Big changes come, new challenges arise, but the characters always stay true. I feel like I know Camille, like she's my friend and it's not very often you find an author that brings to life characters so Nobel, honest, and real. Especially in fantasy.
