“There is a reason J. Lynn will always be one of my go-to authors. She never disappoints.” (Jay Crownover, New York Times bestselling author)

From the Back Cover

The #1 New York Times bestselling author of Wait for You and Be with Me returns with a daring tale that pushes boundaries . . . in which a young woman learns that you can't run from your past—no matter how far you go

At twenty-one, Calla hasn't done a lot of things. She's never been kissed, never seen the ocean, never gone to an amusement park. But growing up, she witnessed some things no child ever should. She still carries the physical and emotional scars of living with a strung-out mother, Mona—secrets she keeps from everyone, including her close circle of college friends.

But the safe cocoon Calla has carefully built is shattered when she discovers her mom has stolen her college money and run up a huge credit card debt in her name. Now Calla has to go back to the small town she thought she'd left behind and clean up her mom's mess again. Of course, when she arrives at her mother's bar, Mona is nowhere to be found. Instead, six feet of hotness named Jackson James is pouring drinks and keeping the place humming.

Sexy and intense, Jax is in Calla's business from the moment they meet, giving her a job and helping her search for Mona. And the way he looks at her makes it clear he wants to get horizontal . . . and maybe something more. Before Calla can let him get close, though, she's got to deal with the pain of the past—and some very bad guys out to mess her up if she doesn't give them her mom.

Stay With me is labeled a romance, and while there most definitely is a strong love story in it, I consider it basically a novel and as such, it's great reading regardless of gender. I do belive that it will appeal more to women because it's written by a lady author and is told from the woman's viewpoint in the first person. However, it has enough of a thriller embedded in it to appeal to men also.

The opening chapter did lead me to believe that it was going to be a fairly standard love story. We're introduced to our heroine who's in college and recognize that she is a very spunky young lady with an attitude. She does seem to be a bit man crazy, talking about what she calls the '"Hot men's brigade'. However, we quickly learn that she is virgin not even ever being kissed. This partially is because of an ugly facial scar, one of several body scars she sustained in a fire. However, the very ending of the chapter starts the actual story.

I won't tell you more of the plot because this is most enjoyable getting each surprise as it happens. Well, on second thought, I will mention that thisfnovel includes an incredibly unfit mother, drug dealers, and of course a "hot" love interest. I will also mention that this depicts a much more honest and engrossing love affair which emphasizes actual love rather than sex.

There are sexual scenes in the novel, but they are not generally as graphic nor "hot' as are common in modern romances. There's also some violence, but again not graphic.

I wish there were a way to convey how very good this novel is without sounding like I'm a plant or a personal friend of the author. I'm especially sensitive about this since this apparently will be the first customer review.

Review for Ramblings From This Chick. ramblingsfromthischick.blogspot.com

I have been a fan of J. Lynn's since I first read about Cam and his cookies in Wait for You, so I absolutely couldn't wait to read her newest installment in the Wait for You series. That being said, this one didn't feel the same to me, and while I liked it I didn't love it. Before going into Stay with Me, I knew that it was Calla's story. I had thought that this was Calla and Brandon's story though, so I will admit I was shocked when it ended up being about Calla and Jax. While I loved Jax, I just had a hard time getting past the shock of him not being Brandon.

Calla has grown used to supporting herself and being independent after her past. She lost everything after a tragedy occurred, with her father leaving and her mother turning to drugs. When Calla discovers that her mother stole her tuition money and savings as well as opened up a ton of credit cards in her name, she returns home looking for help and answers. She gets a job working at the bar her mother owns. There she meets the sexy bartender Jax, and they quickly hit it off. Calla doesn't understand how he can possibly be interested in her though, and does everything she can to push him away. Jax is determined to show her that his feelings are real though, and he will do whatever it takes to get her to take a chance on him. But when secrets are revealed and things get dangerous for Calla, can they possibly find a way to make things safe for her in order to have a chance at anything together?

I liked Jax and I thought that he was good for Calla. He liked her for who she was and not her outside appearance. He was sweet and protective of her, and I loved that he never gave up on her.

It pains me to give this book only one star, because I love the author so much and have read pretty much all her other works. I also did love the first book in the series (Cam...swoon...), the second one didn't really do it for me but since I love the author so much I figured why not with this one. That was a mistake...I just didn't get into the story or connect to the characters. To be honest they pretty much all annoyed me.
Calla the heroine in the book, had a tough and tramatic childhood and escaped and left it all behind when she left for college. She is now 21 in her senior year of college and is portrayed as this innocent naïve girl. It seemed her being a virgin at 21 was a big deal and her naivite of the world kind of stemmed from that. Total bulls**t. I don't have a problem with her being a virgin, but with the type of background that she grew up in, being exposed to sex, drugs, drinking, and the type of parties she said her mother through, that innocence isn't going to stick around for long. Especially being as young as she was when it seemed to start. Also I get that she hasn't been in a relationship but she was old enough to remember what it was like between her parents and she has close friends who are in serious relationships...plus she is in COLLEGE!!!! How do you not have a basic understanding of how a relationship works, I think we all know the basic do's and don'ts. Instead of innocent and naïve it just came of as immature to me.

Jax....I didn't find him at all swoon worthy. He is bossy, arrogant, and I just found him fake. He called her honey even when she first met him and it just put me off right away. Yeah I know a small thing...but it just sounded so fake and unnatural that it didn't help me connect to him or them as a couple.
