Both characters were so well written.

She has shown that people who have been through the most horrific times can still find that special someone who can love and help them overcome the past.

I felt like I was starting to really get into the book & it ended so that was disappointing.

I've read several of her earlier books and enjoyed them. I'm familiar enough with her style to know alpha males (sometimes multiples) and mostly vulnerable women are her go to characters. I was ok with that because the stories were genuinely entertaining. So I was excited to find this book, because I love dominance. However, this was just disappointing. It seriously fell flat for me. I'm just about half way through, and I doubt I will finish it.

I wish I had read some of the reviews for the first book in this series, because this one seems to suffer from the same sort of issues. Kylie's hang ups start to get really repetitive. And by that I mean the way she talks about them. Banks uses a lot of the same language over and over. Also Jensen is really disappointing to me. I'm starting to get pretty sick of the way she creates a dominant male who happens to see a woman and immediately knows she's the one for him to "cherish, protect, blah blah blah."

Maybe My issue is that I've read too many of hers, but this one has just been lacking in every way. In some other reviews I read for Letting Go, many said she seems to be creating cookie cutter books now, and I totally agree. There is no character development, and the way Kylie's issues are depicted are unrealistic and just annoying. Even if you love Maya Banks, skip this one.

Let me start out by saying that it truly pains me to have to review this book with a one star rating. I have EVERY single one of Maya's books. I started years ago w/ the Colter's Series... and continued with the KGI Series.. Sweet Series...Tangled Hearts... Breathless.. the list goes on and on.. BUT this book/series, is NOT the Maya Banks I know. The writing is so poor, the dialogue so minimal, repetitive, adolescent.. there's no real story line, and it's just so hard to want to read it that it makes me wonder why these books were even written. They seem so incomplete, unpolished, not the type of books I would expect from Maya Banks. I hope this is just a fluke.. because when she's on her game, her books are outstanding. However, this series, is definitely not worth spending your money on.

Maya Banks is one of my fave authors. However, I think she needs to take a break from writing to come of with something fresh. This book was PAINFUL to get through. The main characters keep repeating the same thing over and over and over and over and over and over and over again and again and again. How annoying was that to read? Well that's what it's like reading this book. So disappointed in Maya banks. I'm not going to waste my money on the third in this series, that's for damn sure.

I really enjoyed Letting Go, the first book in the trilogy, but something was missing. Whatever that was was found x 100 in Giving In, and I just loved it to pieces. Since I read the synopsis for Giving In, I was totally stoked for it, because after the banter between Kylie and Jensen in book 1, I knew their story would be something special. And that is just what is was.

I continue to love the characters - Chessy, Joss, and Kylie - what a great group of friends. And the men of this series are pretty great too. Kylie grows so much as a character in this one, and I just loved seeing her break out of her shell.

Jensen and Kylie . . . they are seriously just made for one another. I loved the balance of the sweet moments paired with the super hot moments between the two of them.

Oh man, I am so psyched for Chessy and Tate's story. I cannot wait for it. Maya Banks is one of those must read authors- every time I see she has a new book coming out, I get excited and it put on my auto buy list. Giving In was no exception to that awesome Maya Banks regularly produces.

GIVING IN by Maya Banks, book two of her Surrender Trilogy is still erotic but more romantic than Letting Go. I don't know which of the two I like better, there are specific parts about GIVING IN that I liked but overall I had problems suspending disbelief throughout the novel.

Brief summary, Kylie is Joss' sister-in-law and a victim of physical abuse when she was a child thanks to her father. Jensen Tucker, Kylie's new boss, also had a rough childhood. His father didn't beat him up but he grew up watching his old man treat his mom like a punching bag. Both of them have control issues because of their traumatic pasts. On that note, I liked how these two navigated through their troubles as they build a romantic relationship. Jensen was very accommodating, attentive, and loving to Kyle, he really went out of his way to reassure and show her that his intentions are good and that he's there for Kylie and Kylie alone. Not sex or anything, just Kylie.

Kylie for her part was receptive to Jensen's love and caring ways. She was very patient with Jensen when his demons came back to haunt him. She was very gentle, kind, and understanding when Jensen finally bared his soul to her and revealed his past. In that moment, Kylie healed Jensen with love and it was a beautiful scene. There was a great give and take between these two and for a Dominant, Jensen was very submissive to Kylie.

"What it means is that you're in the driver's seat, baby. Whatever happens from here on out is up to you. It means that when or if we make love, you'll be in complete control and I will be at your mercy. It means that when it comes to you, I'm not dominant, nor do I have any desire to be. I am, in effect, at your feet.
