“Ignited delivers both scorching hot scenes along with the evolution and unpeeling of emotional barriers built by past dark secrets. Moreover, the characters are complex, the passion is intense and the ultimate message that love can heal all is inspiring.”—The Romance Reviews (five stars) “[J.] Kenner’s Most Wanted series is about people who walk a thin line between criminal activity and superstar success, between passionate connections and dangerous desires, between darkness and light. These books succeed because Kenner is willing to walk that line right along with her characters—to probe the darkness that frightens them, to explore the passion that ignites them and to bring readers inside the relationships that set them free. This book is no different. Brutally honest, searing, kinky and seductive, Ignited is a book fans will adore and new readers will find enjoyable as well.”—RT Book Reviews “Thought-provoking and dramatic . . . Kenner writes with passion, beauty and a traumatic take on romance and love.”—The Reading Cafe “Ignited is every bit as hot and combustible as it sounds. . . . Kenner definitely knows how to write steamy love scenes and how to push the pain/pleasure envelope with her characters.”—Harlequin Junkie “Fantastic. From scorching heat to raw emotion and then to a twisted situation with some pretty unsavory characters, this book really had it all. . . . If you love heat, intensity and a wealth of emotions, Ignited is a book for you! Thank you, Julie, for a phenomenal story and a great addition to the Most Wanted series.”—Read-Love-Blog “Ignited is one word that truly describes the passion and connection of Cole August and Katrina Laron. . . . Ignited by lust, passion, love, and chemistry, they found out they complemented each other emotionally and physically.”—Four Chicks Flipping Pages “Once again Kenner has written a book that reaches into your soul, pulls out all your emotions and leaves you with a smile.”—The Book Reading Gals
“Filled with secrets, danger, love, lust, and two people who’ll do anything for each other . . . Fall in love with Ignited like I did. Cole is that typical sexy bad boy who’ll do anything to protect those he loves and Kat is dead set on proving she’s not the innocent girl he thinks she is. There’s intense attraction, sultry sex scenes, and a criminal element to keep you on edge.”—Hines and Bigham’s Literary Tryst
About the Author
J. Kenner is the New York Times bestselling author of Heated, Wanted,Release Me, Claim Me, and Complete Me. She spent more than ten years as a litigator in Southern California and central Texas, using her rare free time to indulge in her passion of writing. She lives in Texas with her husband and daughters.
When Julie was knee-high to a grasshopper (an expression that she would like it known she has never, ever used in real life) she informed her parents that she was going to be a novelist, and proceeded to write Kitty Claws, a bestselling book about a cat as Santa. (The book sold out its entire print-run of one, so lets not split hairs about that "best-selling" thing, okay?)
After that stellar start, Julie continued to dabble in the literary arts, writing short stories on yellow pads that she forced her mother to type, scribbling poems on ruled notebook paper that she forced her mother to type, making up skits and songs that she forced her mother to watch and listen to, and diving head-first into high school journalism, at which point, mom finally got a break.
In college, she continued with the journalism thing, picking that as her major and working at The Daily Texan, the student newspaper for the University of Texas. The idea that she could actually write novels and, oh, buy food too, completely eluded her.
The journalism thing cranked along nicely for about one semester. Then Julie got a job as a production assistant on a movie originally called Splatter, but which was released as Future Kill (and can still be found in Blockbuster and through Netflix), with really great Giger poster art. Julie worked her tail off, appeared as an extra, had a great time, and promptly switched her major to film.
Graduating at the ripe old age of 19, Julie chickened out and didn't move to Los Angeles to become the next Steven Spielberg. Instead, she stayed in Austin and worked as a media assistant until she decided that perhaps law school was the better way to go because, hey, a degree in film slides so seamlessly into law. (Or, more likely, grad school was inevitable and the LSAT seemed doable.) Not one to waste time, Julie took the LSAT in December, and was admitted to Baylor Law School on a full scholarship the following February. Law school and Julie got along great, and after graduation, Julie went to work as a law clerk on the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals, where she had a fabulous time drafting legal opinions, preparing the judge for court, and taking regular trips to New Orleans on a government per diem. During her two year stint as a clerk, the writing bug bit again, and Julie wrote a stage play that will never, ever see the light of day. Really. So don't even ask.
After her clerkship, Julie decided she could handle moving to the Big City, and she took a job with Skadden, Arps in L.A., where she worked on a variety of cases with some very smart lawyers. After a year, she moved on to smaller and smaller firms (and had a short stint as a production exec at a small film company, thus justifying all those credit hours in college). She continued to work with very smart lawyers, one of whom introduced Julie to Julie Garwood (her books, not the woman herself), and the writing bug bit again.
Though Julie had been dabbling with writing in her limited spare time, she'd lacked focus. Now, she'd found it, and she was determined to write an historical romance. You may, after reviewing Julie's book list, note that there are no historical romances on there. Let's just say that she didn't succeed at that task. Julie did, however, discover that while she has a head for contemporary nuances, the ins-and-outs of historical detail are enough to make her head explode.
The in-progress historical was promptly shelved, and Julie turned her attention to fleshing out a contemporary romance, having decided that category romance was the way to go, since with the demands of a legal job, she'd be much more likely to finish 240 manuscript pages than 400.
Finish them she did, and though she got nice feedback on the voice, the novel didn't sell. One editor, Harlequin's Brenda Chin, returned a rejection letter with a note that the hook wasn't enough of a "sexy premise."
Always up for a challenge, Julie came up with the opening line, "You need a man," which she thought had oodles of sexy premise potential. She just had to find a story to go with the line. Eventually, she did, and Nobody Does It Better, Julie's first published novel, was born. She entered the first few chapters in contests, finaled, and was ultimately judged by that same Brenda Chin, who ended up buying the manuscript. (Which is not the reason Julie thinks Brenda is a really cool person. Truly.)
By that time, Julie had realized that 400 pages were manageable after all, and she'd almost completed a paranormal romance along the lines of The Little Mermaid about a cat who is in love with her master. The Cat's Fancy sold just a few months after the original sale. Both books came out in 2000, along with a second Temptation, and Julie has had at least 3 books hit the shelves annually every since, and now has well over twenty books to her credit, crossing over a multitude of genres, most of which are represented in some way by the clever pictures in the collage at the top of this page.
Praised by Publishers Weekly as an author with a "flair for dialogue and eccentric characterizations," Julie's books have hit lists as varied as USA Today, Waldenbooks, Barnes & Noble, and Locus Magazine, all of which has made Julie a happy camper. Julie is also a two-time RITA finalist, both times for books about strong women (a superhero and a demon-hunter). There's probably some deep meaning there, and if you know what it is, feel free to drop Julie a line.
Julie was also the winner of Romantic Times' Reviewer's Choice Award for Best Contemporary Paranormal of 2001, the winner of the Reviewers International Organization's award for best romantic suspense of 2004 and best paranormal of 2005, and the winner of the National Readers' Choice Award for best mainstream book of 2005. Not that she's keeping track or anything.
Julie writes a range of stories including erotic romance, sexy contemporaries, young adult novels, suspense, paranormal mommy lit, and urban fantasy.
Oh my word. Cole is yummy goodness wrapped in a dark past, a past he wants to protect Katrina from. Oh and he is an artist... swoon. Katrina is a strong woman with a very criminal past. She has been drawn to Cole since they met and has decided to finally do something about it. I thought Evan and Tyler were hot, but they do not hold a candle to Cole. Oh my, prepare for ereader meltage. I was glued to this read and suffered a serious book hang-over in the morning. It was so worth it. Lots of heat, a relationship long in the making, and just enough suspense to keep me on edge made this one one I will most likely read again. I am sad this series is over. The only thing that bugged me about this book was the cover. I wish that it had embraced his ethnicity. That could have been scorching hot!

4.25 stars-IGNITED is the third storyline in J. Kenner’s contemporary, adult Most Wanted erotic romance series-a spin off from her popular Stark Trilogy-focusing on three friends who own and operate both legal and illegal businesses. This is Cole August and Katrina Laron’s storyline-two battered souls whose earlier lives couldn’t have been more dissimilar yet the same.
Told from first person POV (Katrina) the focus on the storyline is the building relationship between Cole and Katrina-one that has been simmering for a long time. Their mutual attraction to one another is tempered by Cole’s inability to let go of the past-a past that controls almost every aspect of his life and one that he doesn’t want affecting or destroying the woman with whom he is falling in love. When Katrina’s grifter father comes looking for help, Cole knows that her relationship with her dad will set into motion a spiral from which they may not return.
Katrina and Cole’s relationship is based on mutual needs. Cole is a businessman, an artist and a man with needs both in and out of the bedroom-needs that ease the demons of anger, pain and betrayal. Cole’s younger life is the stuff of nightmares and his methods of coping may be out of Katrina’s comfort zone. Cole must learn to forgive himself before he is able to let Katrina into his heart. He is numb to the world and needs to feel in order to survive.
J. Kenner pulls the reader into the world of one man whose need for control takes him into the back rooms and secret societies in the world of BDSM. We have been given very little information in previous storylines about Cole August; not about his lifestyle nor his needs. Cole’s story is fleshed from betrayal, anger, dissolution and pain.Read more ›

We all remember Kat & Cole from the previous two books.
Cole is one of our three hot guys ☺ Three of Chicago's most famous (infamous) businessmen. Cole and Tyler just opened a new Gallery - Cole is an artist himself.
He didn't have the best life growing up. There were gangs and bad decisions, but he left all that behind and is now, among other things, (like owning a strip-club ) a very rich gallery owner.
Kat is the best friend of Angelina - our first books' heroine. She's been raised by her con-artist Dad and other than the money she earns from working at a coffee shop - non of her savings have come from legal jobs. But now she's finally willing to grow up and put down roots - like get a better job - buy a house etc....
And .... she wants Cole.
She's always been interested in him - but she doesn't do relationships - she doesn't really do sex either. Battery operated boyfriends are much easier - and they don't remind her of the past.
Cole has been attracted to Kat ever since he saw her for the first time years ago. But he doesn't do love - he would only hurt her. He thinks his past doesn't allow him to have feelings for anyone. That - and his BDSM side - he needs to receive and inflict pain to be able to live his life relatively anger free.
But Kat is not scared of that side of him - she even looks forward to experience everything with Cole.
But then her father suddenly shows up in Chicago - she thought he's out of the criminal life - but he's knee-deep in a Mafia-related mess and he needs his daughter's help. And Kat only knows one guy who could help her now.
What will happen to Kat & Cole? Will there be a HEA? Will everybody die at the end? o.Read more ›

There is an old saying that goes "you don't miss a good thing until it's gone", and that pretty much sums up how I felt about Ignited written by J. Kenner. Initially I thought I was never going to get into this story of Cole, one of the notorious Three Knights and Katrina, reformed grifter who has had a crush on him for like forever... I mean a really long time, because I just couldn't connect with the characters.
If you have read the previous two novels in this series, Wanted and Heated, you have been introduced to Evan and Tyler, the other two Knights who have found happily ever-afters in their own lives. However, there was one last knight, Cole. He is a bad mama-jama with anger management issues who does not do relationships, and Katrina, a poor little love struck former con-artist vying for his attention. Katrina is going all out to get this man's attention from spending invisible money to impress him at a gala to explicitly telling him she has one less problem if he would just bang her out. However, what she doesn't know is that Cole sees her even when she is not being so obvious but is afraid that he is not the guy for her. I know you have heard or read this before but he feels that she is just too perfect for him to taint.
So they go on like this for a good portion of the novel and as I was about to lay my reader down and take a break from all of the cat and mouse shenanigans between these two, something happened. There was a shift in the storyline that steamed up the lens of my glasses as I continued to read about the tom-kinkery that commenced and the actual conversations that began to happen between these two were so grown.
I digress. Overall, I did not dislike this read but there were parts in it that I didn't particularly like either.Read more ›
