First off, I am a truly dedicated fan of Julie Lessman’s. I have read each of her books at least a dozen times, and I was awaiting the release of “Surprised by Love” for months! To sum up all of my emotions, I will simply say that I was not disappointed in the least. Lessman has truly outdone herself with the latest novel about Meg (a bookworm that I can personally relate to) and her “older brother” figure Bram. The novel also perfectly, and I mean perfectly follows the relationship of swoon-worthy Logan McClare and Cait. In every single novel, Lessman captures me with incredible imagery, witty word use, jaw-dropping plot twists, and emotional dialogue. Every single member of the McClare clan captures my heart, and I love each of them like my own flesh and blood.
Oh, and did I mention that I read this book in literally 5 hours? True story. I did not put it down. Lessman had me hypnotized and enthralled from the start. I eagerly await her next installment. If one is in the mood to laugh (literally out loud), cry (also literally), swoon (definitely), and dig deeper into the relationship of the One and Only Lord, Julie Lessman is the one to go to. She is and will forever be my favorite author, and I will eagerly await her next novel.

When Meg McClure returns from an extended trip to Paris, she stuns everyone with her metamorphosis from a shy, insecure wallflower to a cover-model- beautiful, confident young woman; her long-time friend Bram Hughes is rendered speechless. But how can Bram possibly pursue his newly discovered love for Meg when a family debt demands that he follow through with an arranged marriage to wealthy shipping tycoon's daughter? Can Meg put her devotion to Bram aside and accept the unsolicited attention of a most unlikely suitor?
Mrs. Caitlyn McClure has battled her love and attraction for Logan McClure for years; denying marriage to her deceased husband's brother on the grounds that he misled her in the past. But as Logan's heart for God and love for their family grows ever stronger, why does she still entertain the rapt attention of another man and will that lead to a happy resolution or an untimely heartbreak?
This continuation of Lessman's San Francisco series is page-turning, heart-breaking, and inspiring as her characters learn what it is like to follow the Abraham of old and turn over the love of their lives to the One who loves them most. I have been a big fan of Julie Lessman, ever since she first released her debut novel. She always leaves me eagerly awaiting her next release, and she never disappoints! Case in point with this novel! Absolutely captivating characters, real and wonderful dialogue, romance, spice, and the angst that keeps you reading till the very last page! But even more than all of that, are the faith sub-themes running through... Fear, pride, truth setting you free, trust, prayer, true love and above all it is about the ONE true love and clinging to Him! She very nicely and in a non-pushy way, wove all this in. One reoccurring theme being that of being like (OT) Abraham and truly trusting God and putting Him first, surrendering those we love on earth to Him, and trusting Him to bring about what is good.
This novel was completely delightful! I was surprised, in a very good way towards the end. A wonderful and engaging wrap up to this series! Not to say that there are not characters in this series she couldn't continue to write about - there are! Either way, excited to see what she has in store for us next! Hope you enjoy this one as much as I did!
